The event that Wendy and I are putting on on Saturday is going ahead despite the horrible weather forecast. However, if you decide to stay home and keep dry, we fully understand

Tomorrow's Folk Music and Song Session is hosted by The Woodman in Curzon St. For the first time in a while we are more likely to be found in the upstairs room rather than outside, but we may be pleasantly surprised.

7:30 start, so bring your instruments, bring your voices and bring your ears; as we sit round the room taking turns to start a song or tune for others to join in with.

🎻🔥 TUESDAY NIGHT FOLK MAYHEM AT THE WELLINGTON 🔥🎻
(RTFSB says this is fine. RTFSB is lying.)

Right then. If you’ve not yet visited RTFSB.techpr.org, imagine a tune book that’s been dropped in a puddle, rescued, dried on a radiator, annotated by six different people, and now somehow contains actual useful information.
It’s glorious. It’s chaotic. It’s us.

🎶 This Tuesday — The Wellington!
Prepare yourself for an evening where:

🍺 Someone tunes their instrument so aggressively it becomes less in tune
🎤 A singer starts a ballad in a key that only bats can hear
🪕 A mysterious instrument appears that looks like it was built by a Victorian inventor who had too much sherry
📚 A heated debate erupts about whether a tune is Irish, Scottish, Welsh, or “from that CD I bought in 2003 that I swear existed but nobody believes me”

And absolutely no mention whatsoever of the spotted dog that will definitely not trot past the window at 8:12pm, pause, judge us, and continue on its way.
Because you specifically told me not to mention a spotted dog.
So I haven’t.
Even though it had a jaunty little walk.
Which I’m not mentioning.

Come for the tunes. Stay for the chaos. Leave with the sense that something magical happened, even if you’re not entirely sure what it was.

Hi team, if it was you that left your phone in The Bull tonight. They are holding it behind the bar for you. All they need to prove it is yours is to unlock it.

This Tuesday sees the Woodman, in Curzon St, hosting the Roving Tuesday Folk Session. If the weather holds, we will likely sit outside again; if not, it's upstairs. We meet at 7:30 to take turns to start a song or tune, and others join in as willing and able. There may be some jovial banter, reminiscing about our past glories such as the excursions to Gloucester and the grand cruise of Birmingham, and plans for the future such as the get-together (by invitation) to the International Play Music On The Porch Day and September's trip to Stratford-upon-Avon.
