🎻✨ Folk at The Bull – Tuesday 25 June, 7:30pm! ✨🎻
We’re rolling back into The Bull, Price Street, for another warm, lively, slightly‑chaotic‑in‑the-best-way folk session — and this week comes with some cracking On This Day trivia.
On 25 June…
🛰️ 1967: The world’s first live global TV broadcast aired — so if your chorus is a bit wobbly, just pretend it’s “authentic vintage transmission noise”.
🎸 1988: Debbie Gibson hit No.1 in the US — proof that even teenagers can write bangers, so bring that new tune you’ve been hiding.
🗺️ 1678: Elena Cornaro Piscopia became the first woman to earn a PhD — so yes, you absolutely can bring that obscure academic ballad about 18th‑century rope‑making.
🎤 2009: The world lost Michael Jackson — expect at least one cheeky attempt at a folkified MJ riff.
Bring a tune, bring a song, bring a friend, or just bring yourself.
All instruments, all voices, all levels, all good vibes welcome.
We have 30 people attending the boat trip session on the 30th of June, and I have now closed the books. Although the boat holds 40, we need more room than most passengers for our instruments, i hope I have judged it right and hope even more that you have not all decided to take up the double bass.
It would be fantastic if a couple of people could take the lead in getting some photographs, or even videos of the sessions so that I can incorporate them into the Facebook posts. The simplest way is for you to put them up as a post in the group, and I'll take that as permission to use them.
