Where all records played are on genuine vinyl and the music policy is truly across the board, from Classic Northern Soul and Motown to touches of R&B and even the hint of a classy Popcorn sound or two. From old school favorites to current in demand floor fillers we'll play them and to this we also believe i

n a "100% Dance Floor Driven Music Policy" and we welcome requests "if we've got 'em we'll play 'em"
With a large talc friendly dance floor and a excellent sound system "The Get On Up" is very much a dancer's venue, but with it's ample seating there's never a problem where to rest those weary feet. With a well stocked and competitvely priced bar (that is open till 11:30am) and quick service we're sure you'll be well looked after on the drinks front. All the team here truly believe in giving you the best night we can, every guest DJ is hand picked for the night and we don't oporate a "gig for gig policy" giving you the best night we can is paramount to "The Get On Up Soul Club" philosophy is simply "the better your night, the better ours"

A rare promotional photo of Chicago girl group The Ivorys and a massively popular & extremely rare track that first got a release on Barry Despenza's short lived Chicago label of the same name, it became a local fave & was purchased by Wand Records. It's hard enough to find on Despenza but almost impossible to get a copy on Wand & would cost you over $5000. The Ivorys (spelled Ivories on Wand) were a female vocal group from Chicago and consisted of Marilyn McThune, Carol Samuel and Angela Sanford, principally session artists who also plied their trade as Marilyn and The Mandellas and the Symplistics.
This was their only release but what a gem, from 1967 "Please Stay".

Packed to the Rafter's Last Month (24th July) at "The Get On Up Soul Club" here at "The Dale Tavern" Barnsley, an absolute stormin' night with our Special Guest DJ "Tony Wiggan" who did us proud as always.
So This Month "Friday 28th August" we're joined by Special Guest DJ Mr "Thomas Wheelhouse" (Barnsley), great DJ and a good friend of many years with an awesome O/V Collection, joined us behind the Decks loads of times before, what does that tell you.....
