Established in 1959, the Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir has a rich history rooted in a small group of men gathering at the Lion Hotel. Originally known as the Rolls Royce Male Voice Choir, its members, mostly from Rolls Royce, created captivating harmonies under Howard Hunt's baton. Through affiliations with engineering companies, the choir underwent name changes, including Perkins Engines and Rolls

Royce Shrewsbury Sentinel Choir. Despite early challenges, their passion endured, leading to the choir's current name. Rehearsing one of our favorite Welsh songs this evening. A great love ballad Myfanwy, always in demand and in tribute to our President Ivor and his lovely wife Sue who celebrated 60 years of marriage last week. And who provided the cake and sandwiches this evening - thank you both and congratulations from your choir.

Rehearsal on Monday evening getting to know an old favorite again ‘Cwm Rhondda’. New members haven’t sung this 4 part harmony before but we are getting there. Basses and Baritones firstly getting the depth right, then adding the 2 tenor sections. Everyone is looking forward to singing this at our next public performances in May in the Summer of Music in the Quarry and at the County Show. Plenty of time for new members to join us. We rehearse every Monday evening at the Unison Club behind the Shirehall at 7:30 or our call Geraint on 07387378108. No experience needed!

Many thanks to The Coppice, Shrewsbury for hosting us on St David’s Day this year and for your generous charitable contribution. We always have a wonderful time with you and the acoustics are great!

This was also our first concert under our new Musical Director Kevin Sudlow and we look forward to a great 2026 working with him and our incredible accompanist Rachael Whitehouse.

It is with much sadness that Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir said goodbye to Dorothy (Dot) Lewis, last Friday at Shrewsbury Crematorium. Much loved wife of John Lewis, our President, who sadly passed away last September. We will miss her smile, which would light up any room she walked into, as well as her mischievous sense of humour!

Now reunited with her beloved John in the heavenly choir ❤️ 🎶🎵
