This is my pondering face. What am I pondering? Mainly the future of the local music scene here in Shrewsbury.
In a time before Covid I started running an open mic night at Palmer's Cafe, which then evolved into the "Music Rooms" event - a space to come and jam, make recordings, and hear original music from local artists.
The idea was to be create a unique melting pot of musical creativity for the town. We had some amazing moments both in the jamming sessions and on the stage. It was also a lot of work, and on some occasions it felt less than worthwhile due to small turnouts.
We're now at the stage where it would be feasible to return to regular live music events. But I haven't launched back into Palmer's Music Rooms because with limited time and energy I need to be sure it's the best way to achieve the goal: to see local music thriving.
So here's an invitation to share your thoughts!
Do events like this still have appeal for you?
Are you interested in hearing the music local artists are making?
Would you like to perform?
How could we make it work, together?
And anything else you want to add!
I'd love to hear from you.
