As schools break up, we're delighted to end with the news that a massive total of *313 pupils* who took part in Forging Ahead successfully completed their Arts Award Discover.

Arts Awards are run by Trinity College London for children to develop their understanding of the Arts, and were entered by Shropshire Music Service , a validated Arts Award Centre.

Certificates will soon be on their way!

As Forging Ahead 2024 comes to a close, we say a huge Thank You to the following people and organisations for making the project such a success.

Special thanks to Robert Herrick, local researcher, and Adrian Marsh as they continue to raise awareness of the Coalport Ferry Disaster to erect a memorial to the victims, and continue their work in schools, beyond this project.

Forging Ahead was a project for the schools and community of Broseley to explore local history through the Arts. It was supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England .

Artwork created by the pupils from Broseley C of E Primary School, John Wilkinson Primary School and Nursery and Barrow 1618 school for Forging Ahead is now on display at the Footprint Art Gallery for 2 weeks.

There’s also an opportunity to hear the music created by pupils’ and our project composers in a special area.

We’re very excited that artwork created by pupils from Broseley C of E Primary, John Wilkinson Primary and Barrow 1618 schools will be displayed in a public exhibition at the Footprint Art Gallery at the Tile Museum in Jackfield from 1st - 14th July.

Inspired by the themes on Forging Ahead, expect lots of Broseley Dragons, and reflections on the Coalport China factory and the Coalport Ferry Disaster .

Music and songs created by the pupils will be played, as well as the original music by Karen Kirkland and Jared Jackson.
