Finished this one just in time before the last works of the leave Shrewsbury!

I wasn't entirely happy with my design for this - the sword really should have been narrower and angled - but I don't have as much time as I used to to perfect my designs so I had to settle for 'recognisable' over 'really accurate'.

As a childhood Arthurian legend nerd Excalibur was my favourite of the pieces involved, though my two-year-old LOVES the Cosmic Egg and just stands under it staring in awe. Would have liked to cross-stitch that one too but I couldn't have managed it in time to get a photo in my usual style. Maybe if it ever comes back!

This is what you get for using a reference image from the internet and not going to check in advance that there's actually an unobscured view of the angle you've stitched that you can photograph from.

Anyway, here's Old St Chad's.

Will delete this post if I manage to find a way to get a better picture at any point.

Realised there was scaffolding all over Rowley's House when I was already halfway through stitching it. My husband suggested I just add some scaffolding on to the design!

This was stitched as part of my June crafting challenge for Dementia UK. You can donate via the link in my Instagram bio - I was planning to do a competition where one donor would win one of the ones I completed this month but my only donations so far have been family and friends who don't live in Shrewsbury and/or who I've stitched for before so I'm not sure anyone who's donated so far would actually want to win - means if you want to own this or any of the others completed so far this month you have a really good chance if you donate now since you might be the only person who actually wants to enter!

It's Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery in a teeny 3" hoop! I do love a good museum - and my two-year-old daughter has a beloved dinosaur toy from the gift shop so she likes to point at the building any time we go past and tell me it's 'dinosaur shop'.

I know the colour isn't super accurate - it's yellower than I'd have liked - but money is tight at the moment and I had this close-enough thread colour in my stash already so I went with it instead of buying a better shade. Other than that I think I did okay at fitting quite a big building into quite a small hoop! There's some details that aren't really showing up because of the light streaming through the aida, I'll try to add some pictures to my story showing it all a bit better.

This was completed as part of my June craft challenge to raise money for Dementia UK - please consider donating via the link in my Instagram bio if you like seeing these - minimum donation is just £2.

It's a beautiful day today, but not a great one for photographing these colours accurately! This was the best pic I could manage. My reference image was older and had some climbing greenery and some flower pots on the path, but I think it's still close enough to be recognisable.

Make sure to donate using the link in my last post to be in with a chance of winning this (or any of the other projects I complete in June)

Long time no speak. Life got very hectic for a few weeks just after I posted my last stitch and I've not had the time or, to be perfectly honest, the inclination to do much with my free time! Anyway, I want to get out of that habit and back to posting here, so I've signed up to the June crafting challenge for Dementia UK. It's a promise to spend at least 30 minutes a day crafting for the 30 days of June, all while raising money for all-important support for Dementia patients. I'll be dedicating that crafting time to Stitching Shrewsbury projects so I'm hoping to finish at least 3 across the month. My justgiving link is https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/stitching-shrewsbury AND I'll be running a competition where any donation will give you the chance to enter to win one of the projects I complete as part of this challenge - I'm still working out the logistics of that one but I'll share details on here and on my Instagram story once I've decided how that will work!

I'm pretty sure my almost two-year-old is 's biggest fan - she has excitedly pointed and shouted 'bird' at all of his artworks we pass in town for several months now - so since this appeared on the side of the Shrewsbury Ark, which we live quite close to, she has been super excited every time we pass what she calls 'big bird'. Anyway, given how much she loves it and how I pass it almost every day, it was an obvious choice for a stitch. It was not easy to translate that design down to such a small and blocky space, but I'm quite pleased with how this came out in the end - and my little girl recognises it as 'big bird', so it must look okay!

(Side note: if anyone at the Ark would like this to display inside somewhere, drop me a message and we'll arrange a time for me to bring it in. They don't seem to have an Instagram presence but I'm sure someone who follows me will know someone there)

The reference photo I used for this was from a bit later in the year, so the colours don't quite match, but I was really pleased with how this came out and couldn't wait to share it! Thinking of selling this one as a kit if any stitchers fancy having a go yourselves.

I wanted a quick and easy project to get me back into stitching after a bit of a creative slump, and I remembered someone (I can't remember who, I'm sorry!) suggested a Shrewsbury Cup last time I was asking for project ideas, so...

This is a teeny 3" hoop and a lot of the details don't show up well in photo form - it has backstitched lines all down it to represent the ridges on the cup's design and the logo is a pretty close replica. I couldn't fit the 'choose to reuse' bit on such a small stitch though!

I got my Shrewsbury Cup from Daily Brews in the Square at the start of this year; I've swapped it a couple of times since but I do try to keep and reuse the same one as much as possible. Mr StitchingShrewsbury and I tend to use ours only when we're getting coffee to go but you can use them when drinking in as well. We've used them in a host of the independent coffee shops in Shrewsbury but also in at least one of the big chains. It's a great way to support local and avoid single-use takeaway cups. Basically, pick one up if you don't have one already!

( if you'd like this little stitch you're welcome to it, I normally give business stitches to the business in question but didn't know how to get it to you, drop me a DM if you want it letting me know where to take it)

This wasn't 100% perfect timing because the Sabrina is going the other way in my version, but it was windy and rainy and I wasn't going to stand around waiting for it to come back the other way when I'd managed to time it 90% perfectly! I think this might be my favourite stitch so far - really proud of this one, which has loads of details that probably aren't visible in this picture but I know they're there - like the orange umbrellas in the Boathouse beer garden, the life-ring on the boat, and the four different shades of green among the trees.

I thought it would be easy to photograph this at home, but turns out we only own one game with meeples. Nerd cred if you can identify what game this is on from the little visible! Anyway, this week I'm trying to bring some cheer to businesses finally reopening, so this went to today with Mr stitchingshrewsbury who is thrilled his beloved board game cafe is back open again.
