From cliff-edge confrontations to storm-fuelled comedy, these production shots capture the heart of On The Edge, our final summer rep production of 2026 ☀

Rob White’s play follows David, a pensioner determined to stay put as an approaching storm threatens both his home and his community. Inspired by the dramatic Norfolk coastline, the story brings together a wonderfully mismatched cast of characters across three increasingly chaotic hours.

On The Edge was one of the winning plays in the 2025 Coastal Playwriting Competition, devised and hosted by our Theatre President, Suranne Jones.

We're delighted to share that Shamble by Martha Allison, one of the winning plays from our 2025 Coastal Playwriting Competition, has now been professionally recorded thanks to the support of TeamAkers and Sound Yard. This means even more of our followers can experience this gripping new work.

Shamble is a psychological thriller exploring the isolation of growing up in a rural community, and a zombie-like creature lurking in a coastal woodland.

Its writer Martha, 22, who lives in East Runton, and a barista at the Grey Seal coffee shop in Cromer, also enjoys creative writing said “I am beyond excited to have my play performed! The subject matter, Generative-AI, is a topic incredibly important to me. I am deeply concerned about its use and channelled that into the depiction of The Shambler which is incapable of original thought.”

Why are we sharing this news today? Our other winner, On The Edge that was written by Rob White, opens tonight as SLT as our final Summer Rep play.
