Sherborne Festival Chorus A non-auditioning community-based choir of 140 people. We perform annually in Sherborne Abbey Festival and hold an autumn Come and Sing day.

We aim to provide more local people with the

We're delighted to welcome back soprano Amelia Monaghan for our concert this Thursday, who was the star of last year's concert with her wonderful performance of Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate. Amelia grew up in Sherborne and has since sung with the choir of Trinity Cambridge - it's great to have homegrown talent with us!

Amelia joins Morgan Pearse and Guy Cutting as the trio of soloists in our twentieth anniversary performance of Haydn's joyful and uplifting 'The Creation' which opens Sherborne Abbey Festival on Thursday 30th April at 7pm in the wonderful setting of Sherborne Abbey.

Just a week to go to our concert and the opening night of Sherborne Abbey Festival!

140 local singers, with a professional period orchestra and three top soloists - a really special way to begin a week of great music in Sherborne Abbey.

Meet our soloists!

Tenor Guy Cutting is recognised internationally for his compelling performances, with a particular reputation for the music of J.S. Bach, but he also performs a wide range of music from the early Baroque to the 21st century, appearing with Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Bergen Philharmonic. Guy was a Choral Scholar at New College, Oxford, the inaugural recipient of the American Bach Soloists' Jeffrey Thomas Award and a Rising Star of the Enlightenment. He is a regular soloist with Collegium Vocale Gent and has performed across Europe’s leading concert halls and festivals including La Scala Milan, the BBC Proms and The Philharmonie Berlin.

Meet our soloists! Morgan Pearse - Baritone is no stranger to these parts - he sang in Sherborne Chamber Choir's performance of Bach's B minor Mass in the Abbey a couple of years ago and it's great to be welcoming him back.

Morgan has appeared on many of the world’s finest opera and concert stages including débuts in title roles such as The Barber of Seville at English National Opera and Don Giovanni at the Verbier Festival. Concert engagements have included appearances with leading ensembles around the world, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, King’s College Choir Cambridge, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, English Chamber Orchestra, Gabrieli Consort, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and the Philharmonia Orchestra of Opernhaus Zürich. Morgan appears on several recordings, including the Gramophone Award-winning Dussek Messe Sollemnelle and Handel’s Brockes Passion, with the Academy of Ancient Music.

We're twenty years old this year - join our celebration! 🎉And what better way to celebrate than opening Sherborne Abbey Festival with a performance of the same wonderful work that we performed at our first concert back in 2006: Haydn’s Creation.

It's a dramatic and joyful masterpiece celebrating the creation of the world which paints a vivid musical picture, from the grandeur of the cosmos to the delicate beauty of nature, complete with a cast of characters, dramatic orchestral colour and joyful choruses.

Our choir of 140 local singers is joined in Sherborne Abbey by an orchestra of some of the top early music players in the country and a trio of top soloists. It will be a glorious opening to the Festival - get your tickets now!

We're back! What a great first rehearsal last night - over 100 singers filling the hall and getting to grips with Haydn's wonderful Creation. It was lovely to see everyone, and to greet some new singers too.

We're looking forward to opening Sherborne Abbey Festival on 30 April in Sherborne Abbey. It's our twentieth anniversary (where did the time go?) and we've three special soloists and a large period orchestra to accompany us - don't miss it!

Tickets go on sale at the Festival on 13th March - earlier if you're a Festival Patron.
