Shefford Community Choir

Shefford Community Choir 🎶 Sing, dance, and look after each other 🎶
A fun, friendly, non-audition choir open to everyone – no need to read music or be a pro. That’s what it’s all about.

We’re all about wellbeing, connection, and a good laugh along the way. Come for the singing, stay for the community! Shefford Community Choir started with the very first Carols in the Car Park at Oak Manor Care Home – and it’s grown from there. We’re now 50+ strong and have sung everywhere from pubs to proper concerts and festivals like choirBLAST. But honestly, it’s not about being pitch perfect

– it’s about being together, having a laugh, and doing something that lifts everyone’s spirits. We sing, we dance (very well, thank you), and we look after each other.

An amazing afternoon. Thank you Gemma Francis and Howard

I wonder who had kazoo conga on their 2026 bingo card?
When we warm up, I often give the simple instruction to do whatever the music makes you feel like doing...and as ever, our members understood the assignment. Just another example of why singing in a group is so good for you: out of your head, into your body, and free to just be you for a while.
Happy birthday, Shefford Community Choir. We look forward to Gemma Francis and Howard from The BIG Sing celebrating with us for the second year in a row at our birthday Gospel workshop today!

Happy New Year you lot!

A quick flashback to Christmas Eve.
Carols in the Car Park at MHA Oak Manor Where the idea for Shefford Community Choir first took shape back in 2022. This year we returned with songs and a cheque from our October concert, which felt like a very beautiful full circle.
Same place. Same community spirit.
New year ahead.
Next up: our 3rd birthday Gospel Workshop on 7th February.
After that? More singing. Obviously!

Merry Christmas evening from Shefford Community Choir
Whether you’ve sung with us, listened to us, supported us, clapped along, or just wondered why there was suddenly a choir where you weren’t expecting one...thank you.
This year has been full of music, laughter, and those moments where singing together makes everything feel a bit brighter. Our choir is built on a simple idea: sing, dance, and look after each other. And that goes for everyone.
We hope your Christmas is warm, kind, and everything you need it to be.
And keep an eye out on Boxing Day… we’ve got a little surprise to share.
Merry Christmas, and thank you for being part of our story

The choir have been asking me for ages to sing a solo, and when someone suggested Mary Did You Know, I knew it was time.
Huge thanks to Jenny for stepping in to conduct so I could finally leave my comfort zone (and the safety of waving my arms about). That’s what this choir does best; supporting each other to try the slightly scary things.
Nervous? Yes. Glad I did it? Absolutely.
Thank you to Shefford Methodist Church for such a beautiful carol service.
Thank you to Shefford Community Choir for all your hard work understanding the assignment every single time!

Shefford Community Choir – Lights Switch On Highlights!

If you were wondering, yes, our vibrato last week was partly musical and partly our bodies trying to keep warm.
But we did look festive while we shivered, and we did sing our hearts out!

Tonight, we’re doing it all again at Light Up Clifton
War Memorial at 4.45pm

Fingers crossed the rain behaves itself
Bundle up, come along, and you might hear us before you see us…

See you there, Clifton Village, Bedfordshire

It’s CHRIIISSTMAAAAAAAAS!
And it begins with this…
We’ll be singing at the Shefford Christmas Lights Switch-On (Sat 29th Nov) at 3.10pm… then at 7pm we’re heading to The Bridge to keep the festive chaos going.
Same choir, same Christmas spirit, just without dodging toddlers in flashing antlers.
If you fancy a night of big sing-along tunes (and a room full of people who definitely know the wrong words), come join us.
It’s basically the after-party, but this year… we’re keeping the good bits and leaving the heartbreak to Wham.

What better way to mark World singing day than with the finale to our concert!
