We had a wonderful day ℝ𝕖𝕟𝕚𝕤𝕙𝕒𝕨 ℍ𝕒𝕝𝕝 & 𝔾𝕒𝕣𝕕𝕖𝕟𝕤 on Sunday. It is so good to get out of the workshop and talk to all the lovely folk about what we do.

The good news is we are doing it again this coming weekend at Art in the Gardens. Come and see Jules and Melissa at LM23 and chat to us about our classes and workshops.

SEPTEMBER CLASSES 💎

Our regular weekly classes will start again in September and we have a few spaces on Monday & Thursday evenings 😀

Your first 6 weeks will be an introduction to the workshop and some traditional techniques used to make earrings, pendants and rings (or small objects if you prefer). We welcome beginners and those with some experience.

COPPER LOVE 🧡

There were some lovely copper pieces made in the workshop last term. One of the best things about this lovely metal is all of the beautiful colours 🌈

RECYCLING SILVER ♻️

In the workshop we have talked a lot about melting silver for reuse. This is a low tech process if you don’t have loads of fancy equipment. 1 will become wire and 1 will become sheet

Some tips below 👇

♻️ Use a charcoal block. You can scratch out texture or burrow out sections to help control the shape.

♻️ Use clean scrap for the best results. Thes are all offcuts from other projects.

♻️ Make sure you use the appropriate torch/flame. This handheld is mightier than it looks. Bigger isn’t always better.

♻️ Keep it to a reasonable size. Don’t melt all of your scrap in one go, it’s much harder to get a usable piece.

♻️ Always hammer the piece before trying to put it through the mill. You will usually see cracks appear if there is any contamination.

♻️ Anneal in between hammering/milling
