Lick Of Paint Fest

Lick Of Paint Fest Welcome to Lick of Paint the latest addition to the Sheffield street art scene.

Lick of paint started up with paint jams and creating feature walls and now we're excited to launch the city’s very first street art festival on the 6th and 7th of September!

Another look back at one of the walls that completely transformed its corner of the city during LOP25 🌿

📍 Wicker Ln

George usually paints walls bigger than most buildings combined, so it was really beautiful seeing them approach this space differently and create something that breathed WITH the wall rather than completely covering it. Leaving parts of the rich Sheffield red brick exposed made the whole thing feel even softer and more connected to the street around it.

As one of our headline mural artists this year, George had an absolute battle with the weather throughout the week, but still managed to pull together one of the standout walls of the festival. The floral forms, tonal shifts and flowing gestures in this piece just felt calming from the second it started going up.

Hopefully it brings a bit of peace to everyone heading past the pharmacy and driving along Derek Dooley Way every day now 💛

Starting out through the mentorship side of the festival and working alongside Grace Isions, you could really see everything beginning to click into place with this wall — figuring out how to take the energy and textures from their canvas work and scale it up into something massive without losing any of the rawness that makes the work feel so honest in the first place.

In the month leading up to the festival Sara was down at Lick of Paint HQ constantly, absolutely grafting in the yard, experimenting on boards, testing colours, trying techniques out, repainting things, going again… just fully throwing themselves into it to make sure they were ready when festival week came round.

And it paid off massively.

The wall ended up being funny, chaotic, emotional and very very real all at once — exactly what makes Sara’s work connect with people in the first place. Definitely won’t be the last time they paint with us 💛

📸 Huge thanks to for capturing it all.

Ever since the back end of the festival it feels like RUOK? has gone from one wall straight onto another — genuinely feels like there’s a new piece popping up every two or three days at the minute 😂

After winning our first ever Graff Battle, they earned their place painting at LOP25 and absolutely ran with it. While this wasn’t one of the biggest walls at the festival, it definitely made an impact. Bright colours, weird characters, proper good energy… exactly the kind of stuff that makes people stop dead whilst walking past.

But more than anything, the message behind the work is what sticks. Just checking in. Asking people if they’re alright. Looking out for each other in a city that sometimes forgets to slow down and do that.

Dead proud to have watched this artist blow up the way they have this year 💛

📸 Big love to for the shots.

Whilst we’re busy working away on future plans and a few new ideas for later this year, we wanted to properly shine some light on this wall again ❤️

📍 Gaard Coffee

This wall had a bit of history behind it already. The previous mural had been there for years but was sadly starting to decay and needed some love shown to it again. We also knew it meant a lot to a lot of people locally, especially older generations who really connected with the remembrance themes and poppies featured in the original piece.

So instead of just painting over that history, the idea became about carrying bits of it forward into something new. Elle brought the poppies back into the design, but reimagined the whole thing through this incredible medieval-inspired figure in chainmail armour.

Madly enough, we actually managed to find a model locally who owned a real suit of armour (which feels VERY Sheffield somehow 😂), got them photographed for the piece, and then Elle transformed it into this huge mural full of mystery and detail. Removing the face from the final design somehow made it even stronger — all the focus goes onto the insane textures, chains, folds and reflections throughout the armour itself.

Honestly, not an easy thing to pull off in under a week either. The level of detail in this one was nuts from start to finish.

Even though the wall went up just after the main festival weekend, it still very much felt part of the wider LOP25 story and we were buzzing to have another incredible local headline artist involved.

📸 Massive thanks to for capturing this one so beautifully.

📍 King Street / Community Bike Shed

Marcus Method’s work has been part of Sheffield’s visual identity for years now. Sheffield born and bred, his murals have always had this ability to feel rooted in the communities and spaces they exist within while still bringing a strong graphic energy and instantly recognisable style.

What he created for the Community Bike Shed did exactly what we hoped these murals could do — pulling colours and elements from the venue itself and giving the whole space a fresh new energy while still feeling completely connected to the people around it.

A proper Sheffield wall through and through.

📸 Massive thanks to for capturing it all.

Been a bit quieter on here lately while we’ve been building things behind the scenes… but trust us, there’s some exciting stuff cooking for later this year 👀

Until then though, here’s another favourite from LOP25.

🎨
📍 Club de Padel

Mila K is one of Sheffield’s best-loved graffiti artists, and seeing this wall come to life at this scale felt massive for the city. Mila has been painting pieces and dropping burners across Sheffield for years, building a recognisable visual world around the character featured throughout the work — so finally seeing that world explode onto one of the festival’s major feature walls was a proper moment.

The piece at Club de Padel also did something we really love seeing happen during the festival — it challenged people’s ideas of what graffiti can actually be. There are still so many misconceptions around graff culture, but Mila’s work completely breaks the norm with this one. Emotional, surreal, immersive and technically ridiculous in places, it opened a lot of eyes over the weekend.

Exactly why supporting homegrown artists matters.

📸 Big love to for documenting it all so beautifully.

📍 Nomad Maison

Romaround brought something really calm and reflective to this year’s festival. Her work always feels deeply connected to the natural world — inspired by the ocean, wildlife and the people protecting our planet — and this wall completely transformed the space around Nomad Maison during the weekend.

One of those pieces that rewards you the longer you stand with it. Soft details, movement, atmosphere… just a beautiful mural all round.

Whilst we’re busy behind the scenes planning next year’s festival, growing the team and cooking up some new events for later this year… it felt like a good time to revisit some of the walls that made LOP25 what it was 💛

Starting BIG with Tech Moon.

🎨 .moon
📍 Kelham Island Museum

Tech Moon came, saw, and absolutely conquered one of the biggest walls of the festival. His mural instantly became one of the standout pieces from LOP25 — blending hyper-realistic painting with natural symbolism and classical influences in a way that completely transformed the Kelham Island Museum site.

The mural felt massive in every sense of the word. A proper landmark piece that stopped people in their tracks all weekend long and quickly became one of the most photographed walls of the festival.

An absolute pleasure to work with from start to finish and someone we’d love to welcome back to Sheffield in the future. Exactly the kind of headline artist we dreamed of bringing to LOP25.

📸 Huge thanks to for these unreal shots.

We’re dusting off the cobwebs here at Lick of Paint and celebrating a wonderful end to 2025 with the full video from this year’s festival 🫶

Looking back at this video gives us inspiration, a chance to reflect and look at how we can build on our foundations.

2026 we will be brewing on how we can make things even better while having pop up events over the year so keep your eyes peeled!

Huge thanks to everyone who took part and helped make it happen. It was truly something special.
Big shout-out to .uk and for capturing the magic ✨

And of course, a massive thank you to our 2025 supporters:

Can’t wait to see you all in 2026 ❤️
