Thanks to everyone who's donated to our RNLI fundraiser!

We're on £122 so far - which equates to 24 flags - and this week, our de-flagging ninjas and flag-munching puppets were out on the streets of S5 to collect the 'goods'. Most of the flags are just tattered rags by this point, so we're not sure how anyone could possibly argue that they're anything other than an eyesore. Even the flag-bothering members of 'Sheffield Patriots' have been wondering when they might be replaced, so we're doing everyone a favour by taking them down and cleaning the streets.

That'll be another 16 fewer flags on our streets, an extra £78 for the RNLI, and another chance to p**s off the 'patriots'.

From about 7am this morning, Sunday 11th October, approximately 100 members of Patriot Platform staged a protest outside of Linburg Coaches yard before marching through the centre of Darnall, Sheffield. This was part of a coordinated nationwide action against companies they believe transported asylum seekers who had been brought ashore in Gosport. At the same time, a similar sized crowd targeted BM Coaches in Wembley.

Both demos appear to have been largely symbolic and non-violent, but this is clearly just the start of a broader intimidation campaign. Against the backdrop of rising racist violence, we should expect further escalation and evolution of tactics, mimicking those generally associated with anti-militarist, animal rights, and other liberation movements.

Today is the 90th anniversary of Cable St, the moment when the working classes of the East End of London came together to fight the police and defeat Moseley's Blackshirts, the British Union of Fascists.

That wasn't the end of the BUF , but it marked a turning point. They no longer seemed unstoppable.

Since then we've seen the rise and fall of many fascist or far right movements. The National Front, the BNP, Blood&Honour, The English Defence League, National Action, Football Lads Alliance and all their offshoots and splinters.

Today, with masked vigilantes roaming Dover, migrant housing and mosques being firebombed, tens of thousands rallying to Tommy Robinson's grifting "patriotism" in the centre of London, a movement with the backing of well funded propaganda outlets and the richest man in the world, the moment can look more desperate than it ever has.

But..we have been here before, we have persevered and triumphed.

On Saturday 26th September, local far-right group Sheffield Patriots once again attempted to march through our city. This was the third in a series of anti-migrant protests by this group in Sheffield this year, all organised by Ryan "Rampage" - Grimsby's grimmest bath-bomb enthusiast.

This time, Sheffield Patriots were just trying to get from the Peace Gardens to the train station (average journey time: 5 minutes 35 seconds).

In June, despite attempts by antifascists to block the route, the march was pushed through by a large and heavy-handed police es**rt. This time around, we decided to try a different approach. Enter: the Anti-Fascist Street Party....🎉

Is openly fascist Ryan Ferguson welcome at Sheffield Patriot/Raise the Colours events?

Lee says no, but the footage tells a different story.

We also saw co-organiser Ryan 'Rampage' Dales being very friendly at the head of the march with Ferguson.

Similar statements were made after April's demo, so we'll have to wait and see what happens if and when they attempt to return to our streets.

We often get comments from people confused about what fascism is, but this is about as simple as it gets. If you happily march alongside and cheer on someone who identifies as a fascist, it's probably safe to assume you're one too.

Huge shout out to everyone who made it out onto our streets yesterday!

We were strong, loud, chaotic and literally all over the place!

The far right only made it to their destination inside a mobile kettle provided by South Yorkshire's 'finest'.

Held up and heckled every step of the way, they left bored, demoralised and humiliated, and once anti-fascists were confident the streets were clear, we made sure to keep the party going...

Great work, Steel City, and we hope you enjoyed your evening.
