Dear all,

It is with great sadness that Act One will not be reopening once restrictions ease.

As I'm sure you will imagine, this has been a hugely difficult decision and one that has not been made lightly. Prior to the pandemic I was earning my living through Act One and working as an actor in theatres around the country. Since all of the theatres have shut along with the classes I have had to retrain and I am about to qualify as a primary school teacher.

I would like to say thank you. Thank you for your support since I took Act One over from Clare. Thank you to all the kind words of support throughout the various lockdowns. Finally and most importantly, thank you to all the students who have made Act One what it is, the memories of their creativity, humour, commitment and talent will stay with me forever.

I am sorry that I cannot continue Act One. And I would like to wish all students the very best of luck for the future-stay creative, stay individual and stay kind!

Jack xx

We are looking for teams of 3 children aged 10-12 friends, classmates, family members – who think they have the right stuff to take part in an exciting competition. In this series, each team participates as junior trainee cadets in a selection of physical and mental challenges based on the thrilling world of astronaut training. They will compete in a variety of individual and team games – some high off the ground, some underwater, some on dry land - with the hope of winning a remarkable space prize package.
I have included our flyer with details about how to apply in case you were able to share it.
Please note, we are conducting all forms of auditions remotely via Skype or FaceTime - whatever is most convenient for our applicants - and plan to continue the application process during these challenging times.

Based on the critically acclaimed and much-loved film, Once tells the uplifting yet yearning story of two lost souls – a Dublin street busker and a Czech musician – who unexpectedly fall in love. Following their relationship across five short days, big changes happen to both of them in little ways. Celebrated for its original folk score including the Academy Award-winning song Falling Slowly, Once is a spell-binding and uplifting story of hopes and dreams.
They are only looking for the following children’s role:
IVONKA: The child of the lead character, this is a small non-speaking but important role in the musical. She’s five years old in the story, but realistically they are probably looking for a small 7 or 8 year old to play the role. She should look Eastern European/Czech, probably with dark or dark blonde hair, dark eyes.
She needs to be confident and secure enough to walk onstage on her own for the first encounter, and comfortable with being lifted up by the Andrej actor in the dance and by the Baruska actress for the night time scene, in which she needs to be still enough to appear sound asleep (no fidgeting allowed!) She may be in an additional moment in the second half during another song.
