Hi, I’m Drew and I’m playing Wilf in Embers next production “Quartet”.

I’ve been with Embers since its launch in 2011 and I’ve played loads of different roles from dame in panto to a dog and the Mona Lisa!
I’m really looking forward to playing Wilf. He’s a brilliant character who is still living life to the fullest. He doesn’t appear to care less about what he says or does but I think deep down he’s a very caring man.

I think this production is going to be something very special and memorable.

Hi!

I'm Margaret. Dance & drama have been a big part of my life for longer than I care to remember and I was one of the founding members of Embers 15 years ago.

During that time I have enjoyed playing many varied parts from Lady Bracknell to Cinderella's Wicked Stepmother; from Edith Artois to a cow; from a northern detective to a murderer but none of them quite matched my personality like Cissy Robson - the part I am to play in Quartet.
The part I have been persuaded out of "retirement" to play, since Cissy is old, dizzy and forgetful.

I think they call it typecasting!

Get ready to meet the cast of our upcoming production "Quartet". First we have Rich, who is playing Reggie! Here's a bit about Rich:

Hi I’m Richard playing Reggie in Quartet, he is a very quirky character and I am enjoying getting to grips with his eccentric nature.

I’ve been involved with Embers Theatre Company from its beginning in 2011 both on stage and behind the scenes.

I have performed in numerous plays, pantos and murder mysteries that include Robin Hood the Panto, Scrooge the Panto, Ghost Writer, Weekend Breaks, Importance of Ernest, Blue Remembered Hills, Death in Disguise and Recipe for Murder over the last 15 years.

Also I have performed with other amateur theatre groups: Whitwell Players in Brassed Off and Allo Allo, Matlock Musical Theatre in Little Shop of Horrors and Into the Woods, and Footsteps Theatre in Through our Eyes.

Outside of theatre I enjoys theatre trips, walking and gardening.

This is a bittersweet comedy play, focused on four retired opera singers living in a dedicated retirement home in Kent, England. Get ready to meet and follow the story of Reggie, Cecily, and Wilfred, who are close friends and former colleagues, as they prepare for a concert to celebrate Verdi’s birthday. Their routine is shaken by the arrival of a new resident, Jean, but how will that unfold?

We are going to read-through our October Murder Mystery Production tomorrow evening and we are looking for some fresh faces to join the cast. We meet at Barlborough Miners Welfare on Tuesday at 7:30pm-9:30pm if you fancy popping in and seeing what we’re all about!

A Dead Ringer for Trouble 🔔💀

On the storm-struck evening of 31st October 2026 at Ravenshaw Hall, Lady Leonora Ravenshaw gathers a small circle of her late husband Lord Percival Ravenshaw’s closest acquaintances for what she hopes will be a quiet act of remembrance. Among the guests is Felicity Fable, a disgraced crime-novelist turned “spiritual consultant”, invited to lead a tasteful, healing moment of spiritual reflection. However, the seance soon descends into chaos and when the candles steady again, one guest is dead, Hugh G. Trowbell, Percy’s old school friend and the village’s most divisive figure.
