We were truly blessed by the one and only at our birthday relaunch bonanza 🥰

Their debut zine ‘Ballads for the Painfully Self-Aware’ is out NOW 📖 themes include the awkwardness of growing up, and the battle to find magic in the mundane. If you’ve ever agonisingly re-read your teenage diaries or dressed up to go to the supermarket, this is one for you! DM them to get your copy ✨

Friends & Lovers,

We’ve submitted a planning application to turn an ex-cafe on Chapel Walk into a community hub, bar and event space for our lovely members 💗

Feast your eyes on the possibilities. Wouldn’t it be beautiful! 🥹🥹

What could this move mean? Well…

✨We’d have a long-term place to be creative, socialise, flirt and be cute lil sh*ts together.
✨It would give q***r people and their sexy pals in Sheff somewhere homely and welcoming to go on a Friday night.
✨There would be another beautiful small venue to the centre, adding to the fab cultural goodness currently popping off down on Exchange Street.
✨We’d get to smoke cigs together on the sickest roof top garden terrace, which means a return of Wet Patch for all your green fingered goblins.
✨Who knows, you may even find that ever elusive 3rd for your polycule if you’re lucky! 🥵

But, these are still only dreams and possibilities. We’re now in an 8 week review period, where the public can comment on our application, either supporting or objecting to the proposed change.

If Gut Level means something to you and you would like to leave a comment, you can do so via the link in our bio 😇

This beautiful mock up of the space was created by Q***r Aided Design, who, if all goes to plan, will be helping us build a roof top garden for the smoking area over the summer as part of the EASA Commons project

There’s a story, possibly legend, about Lily that I love. It’s said that on the night the police raided the Vauxhall Tavern at the height of the AIDs crisis Lily was carted down the station. The copper asked Lily her name.
“Lily Savage”
The copper asked for her real name.
“Lilian May Veronica Savage”

She came from a generation of such ferocity, strength and defiance. And as we face fresh bigots who try and once again stamp out our existence with death-threats, & violence & harassment, when it begins to feel too much we should remember Lily’s generation.

Lily is pictured here with Pat and Breda McConnon on their last night running the Royal Vauxhall Tavern in 1993.

She’s alongside Regina Fong, and Adrella, who are also no longer with us. I could talk for hours about those two queens and their own legacies, but today is about Lily Savage. Lilian May Veronica Savage.
