So we have been booked up for months, turning DJs and Bands away for weeks and humbled by how many are keen to play Povey Fest this year. We simply have no more slots available and then two weeks ago we got this email….

Hello! I am DJ squid and I am so so exited to come to the festival, not only are all my favourite acts playing, but its my 15th birthday weekend and im absolutely buzzing! I know there is possibly a full lineup as its short notice but if there is any possibility I could play here's my introduction, I am (currently) a 14 year old dj and i have been playing since the age of 5! I play drum and bass music, kind of simular to clumsy, i have played for dutty moonshine big band 3 times, and i have played alongside clumsy on his radio, so both mike and clumsy can vouch for me. my website is djsquid.co.uk if you would like to listen and know more about me. please please please if there is any chance to play let me know! see you in August peace out - Squid

Then a surf on her Website made us go wow, we have to find a slot for her to play and not just because its her birthday on the festival weekend. So We are proper buzzing to tell you, that DJ Squid is coming to play Povey Fest this August, check out her bio and make sure you catch her set !!

DJ Squid is not the average DJ, as she is a 14-year-old, Barrow-based DJ with 9 years of experience, she known for her high energy, dirty sets who isnt afraid to go heavy, and her passion for all kinds of music. Squid plays Drum and bass, and she’s played at many places, including -A free party aged 5, the gig that started it all, where she surprised everyone by jumping on the decks after having some practice at home prior.

-Her first festival at age 6 - Barrow Underground Music Society - Support act for Dutty Moonshine big band twice at the ages of 11 & 14 - -Playing alongside Utah Saints and Dutty Moonshine Quartet at the age of 14

As well as DJing, Squid also plays violin, guitar, and piano, but she loves to pick up new things and learn them. She is also learning how to make music and even makes some of her own songs that she plays live, so if you want to hear them, come along!

🏹 Ready to channel your inner Robin Hood in the valley? 🎯

We are absolutely buzzing to welcome Sheffield’s own Harvey, aka Bowman Archer, to Povey Fest this August!

Harvey’s lifelong passion for archery started at a young age and grew through years of medieval re-enactments. Now, he travels all over the UK sharing that passion, bringing the joy of the bow and arrow to people of all ages and abilities.

Whether you're a complete beginner wanting to pull a bow string for the very first time, or a seasoned pro looking to hit the bulls-eye, Harvey and his team will be on hand to guide you. It's the perfect daytime activity for kids, teens, and adults looking to try something completely new surrounded by the beautiful Moss Valley scenery. 🌲

✨ Uplifting house, classic disco, and pure sunshine energy. 🕺

We are hyped to announce that Sheffield's own DJ and promoter extraordinaire, James Worrall, is joining the Povey Fest lineup! Expect nothing but driving, funky, feel-good vibes under the stars.

James Worrall is a Sheffield-based DJ, promoter and event organiser with over 25 years of experience in house, disco and soulful dance music.

He is the founder of Funk My Disco, creator of the Funk My House brand, resident DJ for Love To Be and Funky Love, and co-hosts and curates the VIP stage at Love To Be festivals alongside Funky Love and Funk My Disco.

Throughout his career, James has held residencies at some of the North's most respected club nights and venues, including Rise at The Leadmill, Secret Sessions, All Points North, Plug Sheffield, Queens Court Leeds, The Forum/Halcyon, Twisted, Cuckoo Box and Jump Around. During his six-year residency at Plug, he played alongside and after performances from artists including Lily Allen, Justice, The Gossip, Pete Tong and De La Soul.

His career has seen him play for some of the UK's most respected club brands and venues, including Love To Be, Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi, Gatecrasher, Republic and the legendary Bed nightclub. He has also worked as warm-up DJ for Barbara Tucker PA tours and shared line-ups with leading names from the house and dance music scene, including Chris Lake and Norman Jay.

Alongside his DJ career, James has promoted events throughout the UK and Europe and worked with Pure DJs Agency on UK and European tours for the Sugarhill Gang, Melle Mel and Scorpio.

Known for blending house, disco and soulful grooves, James delivers sets that are funky, uplifting and driving, drawing on influences from classic disco through to modern house and re-edits.

🌲 From the peaks of the Dark Peak to the rhythms of Southern Africa...

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Mark Bradshaw & The Jackdaws will bring their mesmerising, cross-continental soundscapes to Povey Fest this August! 🎶

Based locally in the Hope Valley, the trio brings together an incredible wealth of global experience. A little bit about the band written in their own words:

Mark Bradshaw is a composer, songwriter and performer now living in the Hope Valley. Accomplished on guitar, mbira and piano, he’s recorded, researched and performed all over the world. In the UK, he was a member of Spirit Talk Mbira, and one half of the mighty Blissful Virtuous. In eSwatini, he collaborated extensively with the country’s finest - Bholoja and Velemseni - and in Singapore he headed up the acoustic quintet, Shumba ye Moyo. He has studied Zimbabwean mbira for over 30 years, most recently as a student of Tiri Chiongotere.

Rob Whale (violin and vocals)
An accomplished songwriter, arranger and performer, Rob is also a vital cog in Jack’s Rake and A Band Named Brian.

Wedzerai Zvirevo (marimba, ngoma, hosho)
Wedzie is a Zimbabwean multi-instrumentalist, specialising in marimba and traditional drums (ngoma). He also mentors and develops opportunities for musicians in and around Harare.

At Povey, we’ll be playing songs from the album, “The Beauty in it All”. The songs centre on the beauty and wonder to be found in the woods, moors and edges of the Dark Peak, and our inability to value the earth above our selfishness and greed.

Influences are wide-ranging, but include the music and musicians of Southern Africa, particularly Zimbabwe and eSwatini, as well as guitarists such as Derek Gripper, Martin Simpson and Brownie McGhee. Guitar parts often link to African ideas of repetition, variation and groove, and live-looping develops multi-layered guitar and mbira textures.

We are incredibly excited to welcome the absolute masters of street theatre, Apus Productions, to the valley this August!

These guys tour internationally, creating jaw-dropping, larger-than-life giant puppetry and interactive walkabout acts. They specialise in pure, unadulterated wonder—mixing incredible costume design with light, sound, and a heavy dose of humour.

Will you turn a corner and meet a 12-foot mythical creature? A pedal-powered dystopian flying machine? Or giant, illuminated creatures glowing under the night sky? 🤫

We’re keeping their specific characters a surprise, but one thing is guaranteed: they will make you laugh, make you stare in awe, and completely transport you into another world. Perfect for kids, adults, and everyone in between.

We are delighted to bring back the Late Night Cinema at Povey Fest 2026, after its success in previous years.

As its so popular with families and the younger generation of Festival Lovelies, we are keeping it to suitable films, so both adults and kids can enjoy, and we’ve got some fantastic movies lined up!

After much deliberation from our team, many cups of tea and anecdotes later, we have decided on Ghostbusters, Mousehunt, and Up. These films are legends of the cinematic universe and a perfect way to round up a long day choco blocked with on site entertainment!

We have one more spot on Thursday to show a movie of your choice, so adults, make sure you ask your kids and you can both vote from The Junglebook, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles.
