A crashing wave

I created this oil painting myself, from my imagination, and going on happy past memories of the sea. I like to also create an abstract effect in my work combined with a well known image, to make it more interesting, along with the contrasting colours.

The Leadmill

After hearing the sad news about the Leadmill coming to an end, I wanted to create an illustration to remember the good old days of when I used to visit as a young adult. I have queud in all weathers to get in and dance the night away with friends. I also had one of my first dates here with my now husband & remember it like it was yesterday. I know so many people will associate this venue with good times too.

Spaniel

A memorial portrait is always difficult. Unable to request better lighting or focus, you have to work with what you are given and hope you can create a resemblance. Removing cataracts, losing a few pounds, making fur look more voluminous. A proper make over! This one was important as a friend requested it as a gift.

Velvet Night Bloom

This 25 ? 25 cm artwork is painted with acrylic on black paper in a decorative style inspired by traditional Ukrainian Petrykivka painting, a historic folk art known for its ornamental floral motifs. The composition features glowing flowers emerging from a deep dark background, creating a soft luminous effect against the night-like surface.
Through this piece, I wanted to show that even in the darkest times, light continues to draw us forward. The shining flowers symbolize hope, inner warmth, and quiet strength. My work is influenced by Ukrainian folk art traditions, which are an important part of my cultural background, and by the beauty of natural decorative forms.

Saffy

A commission is a wonderful thing, until you see that the reference photo is blurry and underexposed. Having to "invent" texture is a tricky stressful part of taking on this kind of work. Moral of the story? Never agree until you've seen the reference photo!

To new pastures

This painting was done from a photo a friend shared with me.
It painted in acrylic on a 10" x 12" canvas board.
I joined Stocksbridge art society around 2022. The only painting I did before 2022 was when I was at school around 55years ago.
