I have been having wonderful fun this week playing with cyanotype paper for a Uni project.

This stuff is great fun - buy it from Amazon and keep the kids amused for hours 🥰

You place items, I started with flowers, leaves, a drinks bottle on the special paper and place it in the sun for a few minutes (I did ask google for timings each page.)Then you take everything off, take it indoors, stick it under a cold tap and watch your picture develop 🤗

I tried making some templates. Some worked better than others but they tell a story.

A week in to my Uni course and here’s my first piece of artwork.

The challenge was to take a well known piece of art and change it to make it ‘yours’. Hopefully I’ve changed Johanne Vermeer’s famous Girl with a Pearl Earring enough.

Using alcohol markers which I’ve never used before, I give you:

I decided on this exceptionally hot Bank Holiday Monday to join a draw-along with Bonny Snowdon. After all, one can never learn enough and she has some great tutorials 🥰

After getting settled in I glanced round the studio and noticed poor Puck was so hot he hadn’t even made it onto his bed! So I put the fan down on the floor so he was cooled slightly. 💝

I’ve been very lapse at updating this page this year especially as I started the year determined to do better!

I’ve made a conscious decision to not look for sales (if they come along, that’s a bonus) but to look for learning. I’ve always enjoyed learning new things, I mean, this page and the artwork I make wouldn’t exist if I didn’t.

So I’ve signed up for the Open University to do a Fine Art Degree 🫪 Out of the frying pan, into the fire 😝 and I know I’m going to learn loads of fabulous new arty things 😎 that I’m going to bore you all with 😁

The real catalyst for this decision was deciding to put my big girl knickers on, sit down and draw my first person. Not so much a learning curve as a learning vertical line 😬

This is my very special friend Fizz and her beautiful Rainbow Bridge horse Fly in A3 Graphite, I *think* I did ok.

Ps. I do have an outstanding commission and haven’t forgotten it x
