🎵 Rory Ingham’s Trombone Assembly brings together five of the UK’s finest trombonists alongside Birmingham Conservatoire’s outstanding rhythm section to celebrate their long-awaited debut album.

Expect velvety trombone tones, swinging grooves and effortlessly virtuosic playing, as the ensemble reimagines jazz classics including Stardust and Cherokee, alongside original compositions inspired by the greats of jazz.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Harry Brown.
Harry was a much loved and respected member of the trombone community, and his contribution to our musical family will be remembered with great affection.

Our thoughts are with Harry’s family, friends, colleagues and all those who knew and worked with him at this very sad time.

The orchestra rehearses on Tuesdays, 7:30 - 9:30pm at James Allen's Girls' School, SE22, with the autumn term starting on 8 September.

BTS Instrument Loan Scheme 2026

The BTS is indebted to an anonymous benefactor in the USA for the extremely kind and generous gift of three Rath trombones to add to our cache of instruments available to borrow through the scheme.

The instruments include 2x Rath R900 bass and 1x Rath R100 tenor trombones.

We are further indebted to Michael Rath Trombones for the generous gift of time and craftsmanship in the processing, checking and testing of the instruments prior to shipping.

The scheme opened for applications from young members on 1 August and closes on 31 August.

We’d like to remind everyone that the BTS Instrument Loan Scheme is now open to members!

We have 10 quality instruments available to loan, and our aim is to get these instruments into the hands of deserving young players who will benefit from them.

Reminder that the scheme is open to individual members and Music Services, you just need to be a member of the BTS to apply!
