Gemma & Dean got married in March at Oakwood House Hotel In Maidstone, a splendid heritage property that had been sympathetically modernised to give all the facilities required of a modrn event but without losing all it's inherent charm and quirkiness. After a good year or more in the planning, the couple went to great lengths to get everyjust right for the giuests on the evening They were particularly keen to make sure the entertainment was looked after with a great deal of attention and they certainly didn't skimp on this.
We were asked to be there all day. Initially we provided music for the ceremony, broadcast througha four speaker system partially by wireless connection so an even sound coverage was delivered to all the guests. When the Registrar also expressed concern as to whether his voice would carry in al arge room, we were able to mic him up with a lavalier microphone system so his vooice could be heard by all. The carefully chosen music, timed correctly for the event was successful and their recessional music "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" by the Overtones, gave a hint to the joyous celebrations taht were to follow.
Whilst the room was being turned around we provided pre-determined background music - 1960s poip - in the bar area where the guests waited until the tables were laid for the wedding breakfast. After the main suite was prepared and we had installed purple uplighters to accentuate the bridal colours, we next provided background music for the wedding breakfast, based around a doo w*p and soft soul theme, with music ranging from the 1950s to the early 1970s. We also provide Master of Ceremony services, announcing the bride and grooms entrance (again to "Why Do Fools Fall In Love, but thi stime to th eoriginal version by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers) and then the speeches and after the mea, the cutting of the cake.
Whilst this was taking place, in the adjoining room, were also setting up for the evening entertainment, layting a white starlit dance floor, again modd lighting the room in purple and helping "Penfold", the function band arrange their setup, alongside our DJing booth.
We also set up architectural lighting to enhance th egrand entrance to the hotel, again in purple colour, but also spotlighted Dean's pride and joy, his tow motobikes, which made for a great show for teh arriving evening guests.
After anothe short room turn around, the partition doors were opened to reveal the dramatic dancefloor on which Dean and Gemma took their first dance to "It Must Be Love" by Madness. Penfold then kicked into gear, giving us two excellent sets of classic rock and pop music, interspersed with a short DJ set by ouselves, whilst the evening buffet took place. When Penfold were playing we provided them with lighting which helped create a great atmosphere as thier set drew to a climax.
Then we carried the great mood home to the end of the vening, with more great clasics, chart hits and evn a touch of 70's disco thrown in for good measure. The bride took their final dance to Bon Jovi's Livin on a Prayer, accompanied by a salvo of Confetti Canons. And as the crowd were keen for just one more, we obliged with "Baggy Trousers", which got a huge response and rounded the evening off [perfectly.
Gemma and Dean's efforts had all paid off and their guests lefdt with memories of a fantastic day and a great party. We wish them both, a truly lovely couple, a long and happy life together.
