This little beauty found a new home over the last weekend at artists_around_wetherby
It's not very often I paint wildlife but this photo captured by Trevor Thorley was begging to be painted.
The buyer was a lovely lady who had taken in a rescue dog. Thank you

My next life drawing session is at Carlton Village Hall on Sunday 5th July from 1-3pm.

We will be drawing from a live male model , starting with some warm up quick sketches. Then we'll do a couple of longer ones and then have a break.
Then set up to do a long pose to really concentrate on the details.

These sessions are not about creating works of art , they are about practising, trying new materials, experimenting with styles and of course general practice of drawing the human form.

Drawing from photos is good but you cannot replicate the experience of an actual live model.
Any and every serious artist throughout history has said , drawing from life is essential.

Having that opportunity right here in your doorstep is too good to miss.

I travel to York or Wetherby to get my practice in.
It's hard to join in at these sessions as I'm busy offering tips and keeping everyone happy.

So if you fancy having a go please get in touch.

✨ A new date, a Bank Holiday, and even more time to make this one special…

From all of us at the Selby Art Collective, we’re delighted to share that Art Expo Summer ’26 will now take place on Bank Holiday Monday, 31st August at The George Inn, Selby.

We’re incredibly excited about this new date and can’t wait to welcome you along for a wonderful day of art, creativity, conversation, and community.

Expect original artwork, limited edition prints, talented local artists, and plenty of opportunities to meet the people behind the work and hear the stories behind the pieces.

With the Bank Holiday atmosphere, the market taking place in town, and (we’re putting this out to the universe) plenty of sunshine, it’s shaping up to be a fantastic day out.

Pop the date in your diary and keep an eye on our page over the coming weeks as we’ll be introducing artists, sharing sneak peeks, and revealing more details.
