Being a small business is incredible hard; everything that is in my business has come from my own pocket and countless hours spent not only in the studio but working outside of it in my own time completely unpaid.
Small businesses make up almost 90% of the business market within the UK, you just don’t realise it because they don’t pull out the size of the profits that the huge corporations make. But behind those small businesses are people like me who are trying to provide the best quality service with their whole heart and soul and are actively trying every single day to make their little business grow even that smallest amount towards hopefully making a living.
In the last year alone, I have switched to higher quality materials across the board including verified jewellery, sterile setups and aftercare as well as moving to our own studio and having work done to make it as close to APP standards as the building allows which meant building works, new equipment and decoration - all to make things better for my clients.
In all of that, I’ve not raised my prices on any of my services but this also means I don’t offer discounts often either. My pricings are already as low as they can be to the point where I’m sometimes barely breaking even and I reinvest everything back into the business.
If my pricing’s are not within your budget, I completely understand as the world is hard to live in right now and everyone has their struggles. But I do implore you to treat your body with the care that it deserves - not cutting corners to find a cheaper deal at the expense of health and hygiene. Piercings are a luxury treatment and saving up for a few piercings a year rather than choosing cheap and cheerful will save you time, money and safety in the long term.
