Just a few sneaky peaky images of 'Decay' which opens to the public tomorrow, Tuesday 8th September. It's a stunner so don't miss it.

Also, thank you to our guest artist Lindsey Tyson | Award-Winning Contemporary Abstract Artist for joining us for this exhibition.

And a huge thank you to everyone for putting this show together over the weekend, it takes many hands to make a gallery work and everyone of our members does what they do entirely voluntarily. I have said it before and I'll say it again, networking is wonderful.

Lindsey Tyson is an award-winning artist based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, whose practice explores atmosphere, place and the emotional resonance of landscape.

Working primarily with encaustic and mixed media, Lindsey builds surfaces through layers of colour, texture and expressive mark-making. She is drawn to materials and processes that evoke a sense of history: her paintings appear shaped by weather and the passage of time.

'Gap in the Wind' (which will be on display at EDAN Gallery in the 'Decay' exhibition) has a deliberately weathered appearance. Its distressed surface suggests something eroded and altered through prolonged exposure to the elements.

The work responds to the theme of decay through its visual language of erosion and change. Layers appear worn away, cracked or obscured, yet this deterioration also reveals new forms and unexpected beauty.

A regular visitor to Seaham, Lindsey is fascinated by the visible traces of its industrial past, particularly the remnants found on the Blast Beach.

She is delighted to take part in DECAY as a guest artist and thanks the EDAN community for the invitation.

Equally, East Durham Artists Network is delighted to have Lindsey exhibiting with us at EDAN Gallery.

'Keeping it Local' will close to the public tomorrow, 5th September so there is only a short amount of time left to see it before we change our exhibition space over for 'Decay'. It's going to be a busy weekend!

'Decay' will feature a special guest artist, 'Lindsey Tyson', we can't wait to welcome Lindsey to our gallery but more on this later.
