đâDear Diaryâ will be a fun, creative dropâin inspired by muchâloved diaryâstyle books such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Extremely Embarrassing Life of Lottie Brooks.đ
In partnership with Crescent Arts and The National Literacy Trust, local artist Jayne Shipley has created a collection of original, humorous characters in this style, displayed in the Glass Box to spark childrenâs imagination.
During their visit, children will explore the artwork and have a go at creating their own diary entries. Through a mix of art, storytelling and playful prompts, the session helps build confidence in writing and selfâexpression, making it enjoyable for both reluctant and enthusiastic readers.
Each child will also receive a free book to take home, encouraging them to keep reading for pleasure.
We will also offer stories for younger children and offer a drop-in day for early years families (Thursday) to access story-telling resources for home and find out about story-times on the coast during the summer holidays.
Dates and times are:
Thursday 4th June, 11 am-3pm - Early Years family drop-in and book gifting
Friday 5th June, 3pm-5pm - Dear Diary after-school drop-in for 7â11-year-olds and book gifting
Saturday 6th June, 11 am-3pm - Dear Diary drop-in for 7â11-year-olds and book gifting
