North Yorkshire Council is inviting residents, businesses and visitors to take part in a public consultation on 11 proposed regeneration projects, including the potential redevelopment of the Brunswick Shopping Centre into Square One (SQ1).

Their courage and sacrifice allow us to enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted. At 11am, we’ll join people across the UK in a moment of silence to reflect and give thanks.

Scarborough Rugby Union Football Club has just announced bold new plans to transform Silver Royd as the club celebrates its 100th anniversary 🎉

The multi-million pound project includes a brand-new 4G pitch, extra spectator seating, improved clubhouse facilities, new padel and Fives courts, and better community sports spaces - all thanks to the incredible support of local families, members, sponsors and fundraising efforts.

As Club Director Richard Guthrie put it:

“Silver Royd is more than just a sports ground, it’s a place where friendships are made, skills are developed, and memories are created. We hope to give something back to the community and ensure that future generations have the same opportunities so many of us have enjoyed.”

It’s brilliant to see another part of Scarborough investing in its future 🙌

Alongside the Brunswick redevelopment, which will play a flagship role in regenerating the town centre, projects like this show the real momentum building across Scarborough, for sport, culture, community and the local economy.

📢 Exciting update!

After over 30 years at the heart of the community, the Brunswick Shopping Centre will officially close on 17 September 2025, paving the way for SQ1; a vibrant, reimagined destination designed to boost footfall, support local businesses and enhance the town centre experience.💫

The closure includes the car park and public conveniences, but signage will be in place to direct visitors to nearby alternatives.

We’re incredibly grateful to all Brunswick tenants for their collaboration throughout this transition. Many have already relocated locally, bringing new energy to the high street.
