Adding to the ever-expanding and eclectic scope of Big Ideas By The Sea events, the festival presents a new architectural walking tour with Father James Kenny, the vicar of St Martin-on-the-Hill on Saturday September 19.

This week you may have seen some of the Big Dig team at St Marys with Holy Apostles Scarborough as they carefully wash and identity the finds from Paradise. Members of the public have also been helping and offering suggestions of what we have found.

The best suggestion was from a young gentleman who described this green specimen as being “the whistle from the Flying Scotsman’s driver”… we loved the idea - what do you think Locomotion? 🚂

Today we had a successful morning washing finds from the Big Dig at St Mary’s with parents and children from the Old Town. We will be here all this week 10am to 4pm Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. If you want to wash finds from the Big Dig and help bag and sort them, then come along and join us! A free event!
