Huge congratulations to some of our talented young people from Redcar and Cleveland, who have showcased their musical talents by writing and recording their own original song!
With support from James Lilly, one of our Youth Workers, the group worked alongside Skimstone Arts Charity and the Reality Boots band as part of the Breakthrough Music project running across Redcar and Cleveland. Together, they gained hands-on industry experience, developed new skills, and brought their creative ideas to life.
Starting in July 2025, 15 young people aged 11–18 have took part in these inspiring sessions, proving what can be achieved when young talent is given the opportunity to shine.
Cllr Bill Suthers, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: “This project has given our young people a fantastic opportunity to express themselves creatively, learn new skills and experience the excitement of recording in a professional studio. The finished song is a testament to their talent, hard work and determination.
“Opportunities like this demonstrate the positive impact that high-quality youth and arts provision can have, helping young people to build confidence, develop new skills and realise their potential. I would like to congratulate everyone involved and thank our youth workers for helping to create such a memorable and inspiring experience for our young musicians.”
