We hope everyone had a fantastic Bank Holiday Weekend — we certainly did! 🎨📷

Our annual Photography & Art Exhibition was bigger and better this year, with a fantastic increase in both entries and visitors. We were delighted to welcome over 440 of you lovely people through the doors to view the 116 pieces of work created by talented local artists and photographers.

There was such a wonderful community feel throughout the weekend — it was great to see people young and old come together, have a look and have a natter.

A huge thank you goes to Ken, along with Diana and Graham, for all the hard work they put into setting up the exhibition to ensure the works looked there best - and of course to our fabulous volunteers, the friendly faces that make SC&AA the special place it is, who came along to help steward and serve cake.

This year the addition of our pop-up café added another lovely element to the weekend — not only did it give everyone the opportunity to soak up the sunshine (not so much on Monday morning), it raised almost enough to pay for all the new lights in the Hall. 🫖🍰

We are pleased to announce that you picked Graham Bassets painting ‘Reflections in Giverney’ as this years top art entry and Jane Marshall’s photograph ‘Kingfisher’ as the top photographic entry.

💡What could next year bring?❓
We're already thinking about how we can grow the event further and make it more of an Art Festival Weekend. We’re considering ideas such as:
🎨 Live artists and demonstrations
🖌️ Creative workshops
👩‍🎨 An under-18s category
✨ More activities and creative experiences throughout the weekend
But we'd love to hear your ideas!

Our next Exhibition of Screen will be James McNeill Whistler on Tuesday 15th September.

An unmissable chance to get to know the man behind the masterpieces. Considered by some to be one of the great innovators of 19th century art, he was a contemporary of the Impressionists, much admired by Van Gogh and Manet.

Boldly experimental and famously witty, Whistler disrupted the strict conventions of Victorian society in pursuit of a new cult of beauty, earning himself a place in the history of art.

We are very much looking forward to our annual Photography & Art Exhibition this coming bank holiday weekend. We are delighted to see a wide array of artworks arrive this afternoon ready to be displayed.
This year the exhibition will be accompanied by a pop up café which will run 11:00am to 2:00pm daily on the front lawn, weather permitting. Please do come along to support the artists (free entry) and the centre by enjoying a slice of cake in the sunshine.

A fabulous event, we are proud to be part of!

Such a lovely vibe at our Saltburn Vintage Fair yesterday. Big thanks to the keen and happy customers and traders who made it so. And to the beautiful venue Saltburn Community & Arts Association, a gorgeous setting for a vintage fair. We appreciate every person who shares our social media posts, and every business who takes our flyers and posters.
