This year, we can't wait to welcome a whole host of creatures to Saltburn Folk Festival - from the magical to the silly! We thought it was about time we introduced you to a few of them, who will be joining us around the town as well as part of our new family festival programme, based in the Woodland Centre.

First up are the Wild Beasts of Silly, accompanied by puppeteer - a chaotically good walkabout act. Armed with squeaking chickens and a pocket full of stupidity, these beasts welcome all into the wonderful carelessness of acting foolish.
Transported from their silly home dimension, and lost in our own, the beasts roams the earth excited by all they find. Along the way they will hope to impart some of their cultural knowledge of stupidity, as they lead the audience in silly call and response mantras, dumb meditations and ridiculous dances.

Expect the unexpected as their oversized charm brings joy to all who dare to act silly.

Catch them in Saltburn on the 8th and 9th August 2026 🐔

At Saltburn Folk Festival, we're really proud to promote a programme which supports a future facing folk pipeline. Alongside fantastic concerts and performances from artists at all stages of their careers, this includes a commitment to providing space for young musicians to experience the festival and perform on our stages.

Many of you will be familiar with Wear'd Aliens, who have performed in previous years under the good ship Music at the Heart of Teesdale, alongside sister band Cream Tees. We are thrilled to welcome them back in 2026, and hear the new music they have been cooking up this year.

In 2026, we are also delighted to be joined by Fosbrook Folk Education Trust . If you haven't seen these fantastic young people before, be prepared to be blown away by their ability to play and clog dance!

Our collaboration with students from Byedales Academy in Marske will return - who are currently working hard with Jon Doran Music and Tom Kimber Music to form a new youth folk band in time for the festival.

The future of folk music is bright - and we can't wait to share it with you ✨

If you like to be at the heart of the action, but can't face putting a tent up, we've got good news! We're working with The Glamping Group this year, who'll be providing a limited number of boutique bell tents on the festival campsite. You'll be able to rock up and find your tent ready waiting for you. Plus, there are lots of upgrade options available if you'd like to add a touch of luxury to your trip.

Glamping is available for all 4 nights of the festival (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday). You'll still need to book your festival ticket separately, but there's no need to book a camping ticket from us - just book your glamping from The Glamping Group at the link in the comments, and you'll be all sorted. 🏕🎶
