Sounds of Salisbury

Sounds of Salisbury We are an award winning initiative promoting local music from Salisbury and the surrounding area, and introducing music from further afield.

Radio Odstock / Podcast / Socials / Events / Salisbury Live / Andover Rocks. Alex founded the Sounds Of Salisbury Podcast in January 2019 because of his desire to highlight the musical talent in and around our local area. With his experience as a Salisbury singer/songwriter, he wanted to give other local artists a platform to reach a wider audience and the opportunities to teach or learn from our

rich pool of musical talent. This evolved in March 2021 when he invited his wife Ellen to promote the other areas of our community which make up the vibrant tapestry of Salisbury. Branching off to hear from local charities, businesses, events that are happening has made the podcast a more well rounded, informative listening experience. Following a 2 year break from Podcasting we are returning in January 2024 with excitement,
fresh ideas and new equipment to bring to the table. This included changing from audio podcasts to visual, which was a goal from the start. By mid 2024, we decided to reduce the community aspect of the podcast and focus specifically on highlighting the Salisbury music scene and also introducing acts from all over the country to the music loving audiences of Salisbury. In September 2024, we were delighted to start our weekly radio show on Radio Odstock, playing music, past and present, from acts in Salisbury and the surrounding area. We are loving the detective aspect of searching for old music, old bands and artists, and connecting the dots. It truly is a joy to be able to build a local music archive that can eventually be added to the Radio Odstock servers and become part of the normal programming for many years to come.

We may be on a break from the radio show at the moment but we are still looking for music, old and new, from acts from Salisbury and the surrounding area. We are delighted to have received some brand new tracks from some acts over the last few days that will definitely be played on our first show back.

So, if you have new music coming out, or have old music that we can play, drop us an email:
[email protected]

We have played nearly 400 local acts since we started the radio show. Facebook wont let us tag them all but its an impressive list so far. We look forward to adding more.

An intriguing concept for independent artists who want to sell their physical music in the digital age.
In an age where artists get next to nothing from streaming services, could this be the way to sell your music in the future.

Check out Phyzi.

Phyziโ„ข lets artists disrupt music releases with physical, collectible USB drives. Fans enjoy true ownership, offline listening, exclusive content, and directly support the artist by buying music they actually own."

Morning all,

We are taking a break from the radio show for a few weeks as we have a lot going on and finding the time to put the shows together will be quite difficult.

We will still be out supporting local music events as well as going to the Isle of Wight Festival and 2000 Trees Festival (both of which have local acts playing) so keep tabs on our socials for all of that craziness.

We are committed to bringing you more old and new local music on our Radio Odstock shows so make sure you drop us a message or email if you have any old local music or are releasing new music.
We have played nearly 400 different local acts on our shows, and we know there are lots more to play, if we can find the music.

So if you have anything, please email us at [email protected]

Weโ€™ll be back on the air on the 15th July.
And we already have new music lined up for that show.

As the rain smashes down against our windows this morning, we would like to take this opportunity to thank a few people for what was another incredible Acoustic Sunday event.

Firstly, a huge thank you to the acts.
Matt Britton, Alfie Ingram, Seren, Citizen Perez Music, LUMP and Glasshouse.
Without you all itโ€™s just a day in a beer garden.
With you, itโ€™s a very special moment. You all delivered superb sets full of fun, emotion and spectacular tunes. It truly was a joy to watch you all perform.
Thank you so much!

To BSM Stage Tec and SGB Signals, thank you for your ongoing support of this event. The sound was absolutely perfect yesterday and every transition between acts was smooth and easy. Itโ€™s always a pleasure to work alongside you guys and we very much look forward to next time.

The New Inn Salisbury has such a unique and picturesque garden area, with a truly stunning view of Salisbury Cathedral to inspire the performers.
The staff were so attentive to our needs through the day and the bbq was clearly a big hit with the audience. Thank you for letting us bring this event into such a fabulous venue.

The legend that is Kevin Lawrence for coming yesterday and doing interviews with all of the acts to B play on his Radio Odstock shows. Itโ€™s a wonderful thing to do to give the acts extra exposure and is huge appreciated. You can listen to Kev on Radio Odstock today from midday today.

We have collaborated with, and supported Salisbury Live for many years now and it is an honour to be given the opportunity to take one of their dates and make it our own. Colin and Jon work tirelessly to provide live music events to the community and they should be championed and supported accordingly.

To those that attended, we thank you wholeheartedly. It could easily have been a very quiet afternoon and evening due to people worrying about the weather, but we thank each and every one of you that took the plunge, came out to enjoy some live music, and were rewarded with a beautifully dry time. These events are nothing without an audience and we applaud every one of you for coming along and showing your appreciation to all of our acts.

And lastly, to Wincey Willis, Jon Fish or whoever was looking after the weather yesterday. We can only do so much, so thank you for keeping us dry and fairly warm for the most part.

Acoustic Sunday will be back next year, but in the meantime, get out there and support local music, local venues and local businesses.

Thank you ๐Ÿ™
