WiltshireJazzFestival The musicians you will see at the 2012 Wiltshire Jazz Festival are some of the best you will hear anywhere in the world. Will you be there?

"The Glyndebourne of jazz" perfectly sums up Wiltshire Jazz Festival: a beautiful house and grounds, delicious picnics and the rhythmic sounds of some of the world's best jazz artists filling the air. They do not come any bigger than Eliane Elias, the brilliant Brazilian singer-songwriter and pianist, who comes hotfoot from New York. She will be forming a duo with the legendary double bass player

Marc Johnson. We are also delighted to have The Big Chris Barber Band. Chris Barber will be celebrating 63 years as a band leader. It may be a cliche, but he is a living legend. The wonderful guitarist John Etheridge and violinist Chris Garrick also have a spot. One of the most talented and original bands on the scene today is Kairos 4tet and we are pleased to welcome them for the first time, along with Wiltshire-born singer and double bassist Nicola Farnon and her quartet. They say variety is the spice of life so get ready for the far more raw appeal of the BeE Ororo Quintet too. Making an appearance for the third year running is another Wiltshire ex-pat, the sensational saxophonist Andy Sheppard. The Bateman Brothers are back for the second time by popular request and will open the festival at 1pm to a swinging start with a lunchtime session of music inspired by Louis Armstrong. The superb guitar duo Charles Alexander and Andy Robinson never fail to delight. They have appeared at all but one of our festivals and are always in demand. It is going to be an afternoon and evening that goes with a swing. Call 01722 717044 or visit www.wiltshirejazzfestival.co.uk to book.

Read about our top act in Wiltshire Life

Did you know Wiltshire Jazz Festival is organised by Mark Allen, the owner of Wiltshire Life magazine? Mark is a big jazz fan who has hosted the festival at his thatched cottage and its impressive grounds for several years now.
He first fell in love with the intoxicating hybrid groove of global jazz star Eliane Elias's music after a friend told him she was great. But how did he manage to entice this international act with a big reputation to the tiny village of Dinton to headline at Wiltshire Jazz Festival?
You can read more in Wiltshire Life's April issue, on sale from Thursday March 1.

Wiltshire Jazz Festival takes place at Jesses, an early 17th century thatched farmhouse in Dinton that has to be one of the more picturesque spots for a music festival. On Saturday, June 9 it becomes a hive of activity as musicians warm up and hang around listening to the other acts waiting for their moment in the spotlight.
With a marquee in the grounds and another stage in a converted barn, this is an intimate venue where you will feel very close to our star performers. There is an atmosphere and a buzz here like no other.
It has been called the Glyndebourne of Jazz but that doesn't mean you have to be on your very best behaviour. Kick off your shoes and dance, or sprawl on a blanket with a picnic and glass of champagne or beer. You will be able to hear the rhythmic notes of our top jazz acts filtering through the summer breeze.
We hope to offer you more insights as the festival approaches so you can picture yourself there. In fact, if you're not there you'll be missing one of the best events in Wiltshire.
