The vocal controversy.

The iconic vocal wasn't originally sung by the woman in the video. The producers sampled vocals from Loleatta Holloway and her 1980 disco anthem Love Sensation. This led to legal disputes because the vocals were initially used without proper clearance from the singer. Later versions featured rerecorded vocals by Heather Small, who would later become famous with M People.

The title "Ride on Time" is believed to have come from the producers mishearing the lyric "Right on Time" from the original vocal sample.
