Timperley Folk Club is proud to present Dave Boulton, Clare Rigby, Richard Sykes and Mike Cosgrave - otherwise known as

Tᕼᗴ ᗷᗩᖇᗰY ᑭᗴᑎᘜᑌIᑎᔕ

on 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮𝟬 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

There will, of course, be space for the usual round of singers (i.e. yourselves) before our Star Turn. I’d recommend you catch this supergroup now, before they hit superstardom, so you can say you were there, because even though they are new kids on the block, they are all, individually, well-known, time-served professional folkies, and they are already starting to command the big bucks! Featuring songs (variously wistful and witty) by Dave “I couldn’t write a bad song if I tried” Boulton, as well as classic English and Irish numbers, all with intricately-woven accompaniment.

Please note: do not feed the Aardvarks or the Pangolins, however it is quite safe to feed and water the Penguins. They seem to thrive in the wild on lemon drizzle cake and draught Guinness.

Well, hasn’t this year gotten off to a flying start? Here we are almost at the tail end of February already, and I’m still not used to thinking of this as 2026 yet!

Never mind - when you come down to the club this Friday we will be sure to set your calendar straight with a range of songs old enough to be traditional, modern enough to be recent, and maybe even one or two bang up to date (if you’d care to pen one between now and then). After the success of our return to our Star Turn guest nights at the end of last year, we thought what better way to celebrate most of you giving up your new year resolutions already than inviting the fingerstyle blues- and slide-driven stylings of Jon Stirling to play against his long-time compadre and local legend of folk, Les Renshaw? There will, of course be room to stretch your own performance muscles in the first half of the night, after which you can sit back and enjoy as we open the floor to our talented duo.
