Well, this is very exciting!

I've been nominated for TWO Altrincham & Sale Chamber of Commerce Business Awards! A huge thank you to those who nominated me - it has absolutely made my day.

The two categories I've been nominated for are Young Achiever and Community Impact. I've now been tasked with writing 200 words on why I deserve to be shortlisted.

I'd hugely appreciate it if you would help me out and give me some ideas of what to write! I already have a couple of ideas, but would like to hear what you think!

I can't believe it's been a month since Stretford Through Poetry at the Stretford Unofficial Museum! It was a fantastic weekend - thanks for everyone who popped down!

Parade

I remember that parade,
Oh, that music they played!
Seeing all of this pure joy
When I was a younger boy.

Seeing the happy community
That would welcome me.
At the parade, then on the stage,
Smiles on faces of every age.

I smiled too - I was seen,
All thanks to those queens.
The safe space they made
At that special pride parade.

Now, it has been ten years,
And I'm still standing here.
I'm bi, I've carved my own way.
I'll march in the parade one day.

An amazing Manchester Village Pride parade yesterday! It was actually a rather meaningful one to me. Pride 2016 - ten years ago - is one I look back on fondly. Thinking about it, that's probably the first time I knew that the community might be my community.

I'd like to do something unusual, and dedicate this poem. Firstly, to my parents for being so amazingly supportive. Every single pride was made that big bit better by you fantastic people ❤️

Secondly, to the fabulous queens who have been there for me over those ten years. Some of you are in the piccies from 2016, but those of you who aren't know exactly who you are - thanks to all of you ❤️

We've Always Been Here

We've always been here
Survived: year after year.
Never giving up the fight,
Fighting to make it right.

Harry Stokes: a trans man,
The 1830s weren't a fan.
Protecting our Manchester,
Proud newspaper protester.

Wollstonecraft: a feminist,
Loud 1770s bi activist.
Changed history, wrote a book.
Her girlfriend was the hook.

Victor Grayson: disappeared,
A missing MP, beyond weird.
"We stand for equality", then
Met both women and men.

Eva and Esther: suffragettes,
The vote - what they aimed to get.
Gained a trans woman partner,
And became journalist writers.

So yes, we've always been here.
I'm bi. I'm LGBT+. I'm q***r.
And so is he, and she, and they.
Because we're happy this way.

Happy Manchester Village Pride! Looking forward to the parade today. This year's theme is No Place Like Home, and I've written a couple of poems based on it! This one is about some historic LGBTQ+ people who have called this community home. I was inspired by the Never Going Under trail at People's History Museum. I'd highly recommend it!

Train To The Sea

The train down to the sea:
That's the best train for me.
Babbacombe Cliff Railway
Goes up and down each day

Transporting us all here
For the last hundred years,
A piece of working history
From the road to the sea.

Linking up Babbacombe
To the beach in Oddicombe,
A very happy 100th birthday
To Babbacombe Cliff Railway!

Another little one I wrote while off in Torquay! I wrote this about the amazing Babbacombe Cliff Railway who are celebrating their 100th year this year! It's brilliant to see pieces of working history, and was even better enjoying a drink from Three Degrees West while watching it go up and down!

I'm back! After a wonderful 10 days in Torquay, I'm off back to Manchester. It's such a lovely place, and gave me multiple writing opportunities - keep an eye out!

Something that's often asked is "how do I support creatives without spending anything?". Well, I took a fair few pictures while away, so thought I'd make the most of it! Here are my top 5 tips on how to help:

1. Follow their social media
2. Like and comment on their posts
3. Share the posts you like
4. Leave them a review
5. Attend their events

So Long, Our Pass

My dearest Our Pass,
Our time has passed.
Got my bus for free,
Did way more for me.

Free bus AND free concert,
Even discounted desert.
Giving me something to do.
So Our Pass, I'll miss you.

I can't believe that my two years of having an Our Pass are nearly over. It's been an amazing 2 years, and I honestly wouldn't change it. For a such a little initial cost, I've benefited so so much. As a transport lover, I've loved getting discounted tram tickets and going free on any Bee Network bus!

But, my absolute highlight has to be their Exclusives. I've been to so so many concerts by The Hallé, all free of charge thanks to Our Pass Exclusives. I've seen a friend perform, discovered the beauty of kulning, AND even been interviewed by Our Pass themselves - all thanks to these wonderful Exclusives.

So, to Our Pass - thank you. And to anyone going into year 12 or 13 next year in Manchester, get yourself one - you won't regret it!

I've had a bit of a fun idea - stick with me!

So, most of you follow me because of my poems. WELL, I had an idea - why not turn the tables?

I'm a pledge partner for the National Year Of Reading, so would love to see as many of you Go All In 2026 and give writing your own a little try!

To make it a little easier, I have thought of a few different prompts, along with pictures! Remember - poetry can be ANYTHING, and it absolutely doesn't have to rhyme!
