“I felt this great desire and need to form something of my own. I couldn’t have done that and got married at the same time. My father always wanted me to get married... He didn’t approve of my choice to be a painter. But I knew that if I got married, I wouldn’t work properly. I couldn’t let that happen. It was stronger than a desire. This Friday evening, Free Spirits will be launched at Porthmeor Studios, Britain’s oldest surviving complex of artists’ studios that has hosted an incredible number of internationally important artists since 1885, including Ben Nicholson, Patrick Heron, Francis Bacon and Wilhelmina Barns-Graham 🎨 All four of the artists in the Cornwall chapter of Free Spirits - Sandra Blow, Samuel Bassett, Danny Fox, and Sax Impey - have spent time painting at Porthmeor Studios, so it feels very linked and special to hold the launch there. Can’t wait to see you 📚 6-8pm! 💥

This Friday 18th October 🌊 Free Spirits will be launched at Porthmeor Studios, with this heavenly view onto the ocean and delicious organic gin by Tinkture, distilled right here on the Cornish coast 🍸 Can’t wait to share the book with you all, and to meet some of the people who’ve been so supportive of the project. 6-8pm, come on down for what I hope will be a special evening 💙
