An update for anyone who doesn't already know...Ben's service will be at St.Helens Crem on Wednesday at 9:30am and then The Boathouse afterwards...no dress code.

It'll be nice to see a good turn out, so anyone who can make it please drop by and join us all as we pay our respects and see a good mate off.

I've been trying to write this for the past 3-4 hours and I just can't quite seem to manage to put into words exactly what I needed and wanted to say...so here goes

It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I pass on the news that our friend and fellow Sporties partner in crime Ben Williams passed away this morning. Even knowing it was coming it is still hard to take. To know that he has gone and there will be no more chances to catch up while he skived off at Tesco or to have a beer...chatting about anything and everything from music, work....just life in general.

Ben was a regular at the Sporties and Fluid rock nights and even worked behind the bar for Paul Robinson at the Sporties. I know most of you will have known Ben...even if it was just to buy a beer....so when you have a minute be sure to raise a glass to him.

As soon as the funeral are announced I'll pass the details on to you all...please keep Ben's wife Vicky and his family in your thoughts at what is an incredibly difficult time xx

I had a hard time finding a picture to add to the post but this is one I took in 2010 when a bunch of us were away on a camping trip...and yeah, we had plenty of beer (and Welsh whiskey)!
