Ooops I've been a bit quiet soz darlings! The last thing was you were guessing what my new painting was and all of you were spot on with coo!

This is the new Highland Cow painting at various stages of completion.
Can you spot what's changing? between each one?
At the time, each photo felt like a huge leap forward.

Looking back now, it's funny how unfinished some of them seem, sometimes a tiny change made a huge difference, other times I was painting away furiously before I was ready to take another pic!

And it seems like i take a lot more photos as i near the end as it really really helps me to see what needs doing to finish it off!

can you see what's changing between each step?
Do you have enough time to look?
Are you even bothered?
😂😂😂

There's nothing wrong with serious art, but in a crazy world like ours, sometimes what your home is crying out for is the kind of art that makes you stop and smile the moment you walk into the room.

If you're anything like me, you can really appreciate the time and energy that's gone into a really hyper-realistic painting of a cow. The level of skill is unreal, almost impossible to tell it apart from a photo! And for me, that's where hyperrealism falls short. I can really admire the skill and patience, but there's a reason photography was invented and I feel like there's so much more I want from a painting - all that freedom you have to use the paint and colours in any imaginable way.

I get it too, my paintings also aren't for everyone. But if they light you up, you get to fill your home with joy!

That’s the bit I care about most; The spark, the personality, the feeling that makes you smile every time you walk past.

I don’t just want my paintings to match your sofa…
I want them to change the feeling of the whole room.

Which one makes you smile?

There’s a reason dog people instantly understand each other.

You can tell someone “I still miss a dog from 12 years ago”…
and they completely get it.

Dogs leave paw prints on absolutely everything, don’t they?

This here algorithm probably thinks I should be dancing at the camera or pointing at text bubbles by now… but f@ck that silly game. It's not me at all.

Instead, here’s a very colourful cocker spaniel with excellent ears.

And honestly, as Edith Piaf once said "Non, je ne regrette rien!" (tell me you can read those lyrics without hearing teh song and trying to sing it!)

If this popped up for you today, say hello 👋

Wesley is awaiting a wonderful play in the back garden with you please!

This little face has been watching me all week! well both of them have really. One of them provides feedback and reassurance, the other demands cuddles and attention. Both as important as each other IMO!

I swear animals in paintings develop personalities the longer they’re in the studio, this cheetah (Zola) is one of my faves, and unbelievably she still hasn't found her furrever home! She's looking for a cat loving, outrageously stylish companion who loves the great outdoors and a party in the kitchen on a Saturday afternoon. If you know anyone who needs an original cheetah painting, do let me know!

I think one of the reasons people connect so deeply with animal art is because animals represent something we’re missing.

Stillness.
Loyalty.
Freedom.
Playfulness.
Peace.

Sometimes I think we don’t just decorate with animals…
we decorate with the FEELING they give us.

QUESTION: What animal always makes you feel something when you see it?

FACT: I still paint every single animal by hand.

No prompts. No generators. No energy sapping bu****it.

Just me, my paint, my music, sometimes a bar of 85% to help in the afternoon... and plenty of time just looking at a painting to work out what it really needs.

I know AI art is everywhere now, but FFS!! It is just so completely lifeless. The clue is in the name; A= Artificial. I think people are craving REAL things more than ever.

Things made slowly.
Things with fingerprints.

Things that aren't perfect
Things with feeling.

Real life art in the real world please! Who's in?

No algorithms or servers were harmed in the making of me… just a lot of love and unrushed time.
Also no no water was needlessly tipped down the drain, and I didn't nearly cause the server to overheat on my final edit.

ALWAYS HUMAN MADE ✊
