IMPACT MEETING
We had a great meeting last Saturday.

Thanks go to Karen and Christie for encouraging these meetings as a social event for members and parents/carers.

Thanks also to parents for sharing so openly with each other. It's not always easy to talk. The power of sharing and supporting each other is so valuable . Thanks to Funky's Carita and Lindzi for their encouragement and enabling the discussion.

A shared concern was around social workers....no one has one and no one wants to talk to them in case budgets are reduced.

Families talked about lack of supported respite, explaining how they might have managed that within their families previously; sadly families are changing, parents/siblings have been lost or simply don't have the time/energy to do more. This can mean no breaks or respite.

In a nutshell there are many things to discuss and fix .

Lindzi talked about primal reflexes. Everyone joined in the juggling challenge and took scarves away to keep practising ....they all had a great time and laughed 😅.

Karen will organise a blue tiffin meal .....dine and dance and also karen will work with lindzi on emailing various organisations to poss give some free and some paid show tickets etc .

Lindzi mentioned Voice ...parent , carer group Rochdale and will contact for info .

Carita will talk to Talbot House again and put other groups in touch.

It was a fun meeting. It is great to see different people at each of the get togethers. Always supportive and friendly, never overwhelming.

Why not come along next time, the members enjoy time together, leaving parents to chat.
