We are loving our latest eye-catching installation courtesy of Julie Gayle Balliu! 'Out of Order' takes inspiration from the everyday realities of Island travel with one side of the box full of colourful destinations and the other boasting a range of all-too-familiar road signs. Taking this inspiration as her starting point, Julie has used colour, layering and fragments of text to explore how people navigate obstacles and opportunities in everyday life. An Island-based fine artist, Julie works primarily in watercolour, mixed media and printmaking. Ryde Town Council

Something rather wonderful has landed in our box! Artist .balliu has created two contrasting pieces that feel perfectly timed for the Summer. One celebrates freedom and possibilities through well-known Isle of Wight destinations and tourist stickers. The other reflects on congestion and frustration inspired by the realities of road travel around the Island - all the more relevant at this busy time of year. Keep watch for more images coming soon! It's a scream! Our new Re:Box installation is now in courtesy of Island artist Mary Flynn. A celebration of all the artists who have inspired and influenced her over the years, these stunning banners have been created using upcycled textiles, printmaking and stitch.

Excited to announce that Creative Island is inviting artists to submit a short Expression of Interest for an upcoming installation in Re:Box as part of CAN YOU HEAR US?, the six-week celebration of creativity and culture taking place across the Isle of Wight from 11th September - 24th October 2026.

The brain child of Amber Rose at Stitch Department in Ryde, our latest installation celebrates the art of embroidery and the spirit of High Streets past. Over 100 participants have taken part in 20 workshops as part of Creative Island's 'Past Futures' project. recreating historic Ryde & Newport shop fronts using embroidery, goldwork, beading & patchwork. The stunning 'Heritage Threads' wall hanging can be seen on tour around Ryde & Newport in the coming months. Keep an eye out here for updates or go to Stitch Department.
