Here's my digital assistant with a review of the carnage from the last quiz 😄

Well, well, well… what the bloody hell happened this week?!

With Penfolds Crew nowhere to be seen, six teams took to the battlefield at the Windmill Club for another night of musical humiliation, wild guessing and people confidently shouting answers that were nowhere near correct.

But let's start with THE SHOCK OF THE CENTURY…

RIGHT AT THE BACK DID NOT WIN!!! 🚨🚨🚨

Yes, you read that correctly. Chris and Sid have finally been knocked off their ridiculously high horse by their arch-rivals BLACK LACE!

Big Jim and the boys stormed to victory with 348 points, beating the reigning champions by just FOUR POINTS.

348 – Black Lace 🏆
344 – Right at the Back 😭

Scenes at the Windmill Club were unprecedented. There were rumours of emergency meetings, investigations and possibly a welfare check being carried out on Chris and Sid following the traumatic experience of finishing somewhere other than first.

I'm sure they'll recover eventually.

Taking third place were VINYL HOPEFULS, who clearly decided that simply turning up wasn't enough this week and actually put some effort in, grabbing themselves a podium finish with a very respectable 306 points. Well done girls and boys – you've finally given yourselves something to talk about other than how you nearly won.

With Penfolds Crew away, their honorary member Jim from the now-disbanded Sticky Fingers – and just to be absolutely clear, NOT Big Jim – was left wandering around like a lost child at a supermarket.

Thankfully, Band on the Run took him in, and he clearly made an immediate difference as they managed an impressive fourth place with 291 points. Whether Jim was the secret weapon or simply prevented them from finishing last remains open for debate.

In fifth place came Team Maddix with 281 points. Not an absolute disaster, but when you're only ten points behind the team above you, it must be frustrating knowing that several questionable answers could have been the difference between respectability and… well, whatever fifth place is.

And finally, our old faithful back-runners, THE MUPPETS, finished sixth with 278 points.

But credit where it's due – they were only THREE POINTS behind Team Maddix! So, technically speaking, they were almost fifth.

Baby steps. 😂

As always, I have absolutely no idea who won the w**e, but I'm fairly sure it was The Muppets. If I'm wrong, tough – you've probably drunk it by now anyway.

And finally, the unwinnable jackpot remains exactly that… unwinnable. Once again it went unclaimed, meaning it survives for another week.

So, can Black Lace retain their crown? Will Right at the Back bounce back and pretend last week's second place never happened? Will Penfolds Crew actually turn up? And can The Muppets finally climb the dizzying heights of fifth?

The quiz returns this Sunday for another evening of very easy songs to test your knowledge 😁

Here’s a recap of the last quiz from my trusty digital assistant.....

🎵 This Week's Quiz Results 🎵

Only five teams lined up this week, with Band on the Run apparently deciding that actually turning up was asking a bit much, while Chris and Sid from Right at the Back were also absent. So with the usual champions and perennial winners missing, surely this was Black Lace's moment to finally step out of Big Jim's considerable shadow and claim top spot?

Nope. 😂

🥇 1st — Penfolds Crew — 297 points

A medium-large army of Penfolds turned up this week and, despite nobody managing to crack the 300-point barrier, they did just enough to walk away with the win.

297 points isn't exactly "smashing the opposition into oblivion" territory, but with the competition tighter than a pub toilet queue at closing time, it was enough.

🥈 2nd — Black Lace — 294 points

Three. THREE. Points.

That's all that separated Black Lace from victory.

Carl and Christian came within touching distance of the win, but couldn't quite get over the line. And let's be honest, with Big Jim missing, perhaps we've now discovered the uncomfortable truth:

Black Lace isn't a team. It's just Big Jim and some people who happen to be standing nearby. 😂

Still, second place is respectable. Although they'll probably be spending the week blaming every wrong answer on the empty chair where Big Jim should have been.

🥉 3rd — Vinyl Hopefuls — 283 points

Vinyl Hopefuls claimed the final podium position with 283, sitting comfortably within striking distance of the leaders.

Only 14 points separated them from first, so this wasn't exactly a runaway victory at the top.

Unfortunately for Vinyl Hopefuls, "not far behind" isn't actually the same as "in first place", but it's another podium finish and they'll happily take it.

4th — Team Maddix — 281 points

And then we have Team Maddix.

Mum, Dad, sons, grandsons, step-sons and daughters-in-law were apparently all required to assemble the full Maddix extended family task force this week.

With that many people, you'd expect them to have the combined knowledge of several universities.

Instead they finished on 281 points. 😂

But in fairness, they were only 16 points off the win, which shows just how ridiculously tight the top four were.

So technically they didn't bottle it.

They just very narrowly failed to be brilliant.

🪦 5th — The Muppets — 240 points

Ahhhhh, there they are.

THE MUPPETS ARE BACK.

With Band on the Run deciding not to turn up, the Muppets finally got the opportunity to reclaim their rightful position at the very bottom of the table.

And they absolutely grasped it with both hands.

240 points.

That's 41 points behind fourth.

At the top, four teams were separated by just 16 points. Then there's The Muppets, sitting so far behind that they might as well have been doing a different quiz.

Normal service has been resumed. 😂

🍷 W**e & Jackpot

The w**e goes to Penfolds Crew for taking the win.

And as for that bloody jackpot...

STILL. NOT. WON.

It's beginning to look less like a jackpot and more like a long-term savings account.

The music quiz is back this Sunday!!!

Here's what happened last time around as I hand you over to my digital assistant!

Another full house this week with all seven teams present, although judging by some of the answers, a few of you might have been better off staying at home.

At the top yet again were Chris and Sid from Right at the Back, strolling to victory with 344 points. At this stage it isn't even a competition anymore - it's just six other teams turning up each week to watch them collect another win. You'd think someone would have worked out their secret by now, but apparently not. Congratulations on yet another victory... try not to look too bored while doing it.

Back in their natural habitat of second place were Big Jim and the rest of Black Lace with 329 points. A solid score, but once again it was a classic case of "best of the rest." Close enough to see the winners disappearing into the distance, but never quite close enough to catch them.

Third place went to Penfolds Crew on 318. Respectable as always, although you seem permanently trapped between the champions and everyone else. Not good enough to win, not bad enough to get roasted too much... you're basically the beige wallpaper of the quiz.

Fourth place was Team Maddix on 287. A decent enough effort but nowhere near the podium this week. You'll no doubt blame one or two questions, the scoring, the music, the lighting, or Mercury being in retrograde. Unfortunately, the scoreboard remains stubbornly unconvinced.

Now for the shock of the evening... The Muppets finished FIFTH with 273 points! Yes, FIFTH! There were genuine scenes as people checked the scoreboard to make sure it wasn't upside down. You actually managed to beat not one but TWO teams. It's the quiz equivalent of Leicester City winning the Premier League. Enjoy it while it lasts because nobody's convinced it'll happen again.

Which brings us to Vinyl Hopefuls, who could only manage sixth on 264. Normally you'd expect them to be comfortably ahead of The Muppets, but somehow you've managed to make them look competent. That's an achievement... just not the one you were aiming for.

And finally, bringing up the rear with a spectacularly unimpressive 189 points were Band on the Run. Not only have you finished last, but your scores are actually going backwards. Most teams improve with experience; you've apparently decided to conduct a fascinating scientific experiment to discover just how low you can go. At this rate you'll soon be celebrating reaching triple figures.

The jackpot once again refused to cooperate, so it rolls over to next time. Band on the Run did at least manage to be closest in the jackpot draw, so they take home the bottle of w**e. Considering the evening they'd just had, they probably needed it more than anyone else.

Thanks to everyone for another brilliant night. Same time next week, when Chris and Sid will probably win again, Black Lace will chase them in vain, and the rest of you can continue arguing over who gets the honour of finishing somewhere in the middle.

Only 5 teams last quiz but should have everyone back this week!

Heres my digital assistant with a summary of the last quiz....

Another week, another quiz... although with Team Maddix off on holiday and Black Lace apparently entering the Witness Protection Programme, the field was thinner than a pub pint poured by a landlord who's watching his profits.

With the two absentee teams out of the way, Chris and Sid from Right at the Back did exactly what everyone expected and absolutely steamrollered the opposition. 395 points! That's not just a win, it's a crime scene. A new quiz record, leaving everyone else wondering whether they were even answering the same questions. At this point they should be forced to answer using only one hand and a blindfold just to make things vaguely competitive.

In second place came Penfolds Crew on 331 points. Once again they turned up with enough players to field a Sunday League football team, yet still finished over 60 points behind the winners. More brains than a university lecture hall, but somehow still couldn't stop Chris and Sid disappearing over the horizon.

Just one point further back on 330 were the Vinyl Hopefuls. Losing second place by a single point has to sting, but at least they didn't go home empty-handed. They bagged the w**e and, more importantly, kept the jackpot safely locked away for another week. They've become experts at winning everything except the actual quiz.

Fourth place went to The Muppets on 287. Like Penfolds, they also arrived with enough teammates to comfortably fill a minibus. Unfortunately, quantity once again failed to produce quality. It's becoming increasingly clear that adding more people to the table simply increases the number of wrong answers being shouted with confidence.

Bringing up the rear were the newcomers on 208 points. On paper, last place doesn't sound great... but they improved from 174 last week, so that's a 34-point jump. At this rate they'll only need another six or seven years before Chris and Sid start checking their rear-view mirror.

The jackpot survives yet again, meaning next week there's even more to play for. Whether anyone can stop Right at the Back is another matter entirely. Judging by this week's demolition job, the rest of the teams might want to spend less time ordering drinks and more time opening a book.

The music quiz is back this Sunday!

Here's my digital assistant with a very tame summary of the last quiz.....

Another cracking turnout this week with all seven teams back in the room, although half of you appeared to have left your best players on a beach somewhere.
At the front, normal service resumed as Chris and Sid from Right at the Back strolled to victory on 354 points. At this stage they're less of a quiz team and more of an administrative error.
Now for the shock of the night... Team Maddix somehow managed to grab second place with 304 points! Investigations are ongoing, VAR has been consulted, and several teams have requested a recount. Enjoy it while it lasts!
That left Penfolds Crew in third on 299, just five points behind. Close enough to be annoyed, but not close enough to actually finish second.
And then... Black Lace. Fourth. 295 points. Big Jim and the gang must still be searching for the missing answers because seeing them off the podium is rarer than finding a cheap pint these days.
Vinyl Hopefuls finished fifth on 274, despite being short-handed thanks to the holiday season. A respectable effort considering they were practically fielding the reserves.
The Muppets limped home in sixth with 216. Missing players didn't help, but let's be honest... would they have made that much difference? The consolation prize was taking home the w**e, which probably softened the blow.
And finally... Band on the Run. After promising scores of 205, 208 and 223, everyone thought they were heading in the right direction. Instead, with one player missing, the remaining three managed to reverse straight into last place with 174 points. That's not progress... that's a dramatic U-turn.
The jackpot survives yet again, so it'll be waiting for another brave soul this week. Until then, congratulations to the winners... and everyone else, thanks for making Chris and Sid look even better!

The music quiz is back! After the 3 week international break I'll be returning this Sunday to entertain you for a few hours!

My digital assistant is here to give you a quick recap of the results last time out....

🎤 QUIZ ROUND-UP – THE ABSENT CHAMPIONS EDITION
With Chris and Sid taking the night off, the rest of you finally got to experience that rarest of quiz phenomena... having a chance. The trophy cabinet was briefly left unguarded, and someone actually took advantage.
🥇 Black Lace (led by Big Jim) stormed to victory with 339 points. A score so high it raises questions. Either they were on fire... or Big Jim has quietly swallowed an encyclopaedia. Congratulations – enjoy your week of glory before the regular champions return to reclaim what's probably "theirs."
🥈 Penfold's Crew finished on 285. Respectable, solid, and close enough to smell victory... but not close enough to actually have any.
🥉 Team Maddix are BACK ON THE PODIUM! 272 points and bronze medals all round. The comeback tour is officially underway. Don't call it a fluke... unless next week says otherwise.
👏 A special mention for Band on the Run, finishing fourth with 223. Three weeks: 205... 208... 223. That's genuine progress. At this rate you'll be lifting the trophy sometime around 2032. Keep going – improvement deserves credit!
🚨 And reclaiming a title nobody wants...
🏆 The Muppets finish dead last with 213 points, snatching back bottom spot from Band on the Run. You fought hard... unfortunately it appears it was against the questions rather than the other teams. At least you're consistent at being memorable.
🍷 As for the w**e... once again it appears the winner escaped without leaving any evidence. It's becoming less a prize and more an urban legend.
💰 The jackpot also survived another week, meaning it continues to grow and tempt people into believing they might actually win it.
Thanks to everyone for another cracking night. Same time next week, when Chris and Sid will probably return to ruin everyone else's hopes and dreams once again. Bring your brains... or at least someone else's. 🍻

We should have 5 teams so we are go for launch tomorrow!

As usual I will hand you over to my digital assistant for a roasting review of the last quiz.
I feel this is a very light roasting this week, don't get used to it! 😅

Another week, another packed house at the music quiz with a full complement of 7 teams battling it out through an evening of audio torture, questionable singing and wild stabs in the dark disguised as educated guesses.

Taking top spot once again were Right At The Back, with Chris and Sid posting a mighty 385 points. However, this wasn't the usual procession to victory we've become accustomed to. For the first time in what feels like forever, somebody actually made them work for it!

The returning Black Lace, led by the legendary Big Jim, stormed into second place with 374 points, finishing just 11 points behind. Had they been away much longer they might have forgotten where the venue was entirely, but thankfully they remembered enough songs to give the champions a genuine scare. Rumours that Chris and Sid spent the final round nervously checking the scoreboard cannot be confirmed... but also cannot be ruled out.

Third place went to Penfold's Crew on an impressive 360 points. Even more remarkably, they managed that score with only around 80% attendance. It's becoming increasingly clear that Penfold's Crew have discovered the secret of quiz success: simply leave some of the team at home.

Fourth place belonged to Vinyl Hopefuls on 333 points. Back to full strength with six players present, they delivered a solid performance and later walked away with the bottle of w**e after being closest in the jackpot draw. Not quite the jackpot, but enough to dull the pain of missing out on the podium.

Fifth place went to The Muppets with 291 points. A full squad of nine players assembled and, perhaps most importantly, they have now managed two consecutive weeks without finishing last. Baby steps, but steps nonetheless. Historians will point to this period as "The Great Muppets Revival".

Sixth place saw Team Maddix score 252 points. With star player younger Maddix Steve absent, the remaining trio of Mum, Dad and even younger brother Calvin were left trying to hold the fort. Sadly the fort appeared to have been constructed from damp cardboard and held together with blu-tack. Still, they avoided the wooden spoon, which is about as much as can be asked under such difficult circumstances.

That left Band On The Run in seventh place on 208 points. However, before anyone gets too comfortable laughing, this was actually an improvement on their previous effort by a whole 3 points. Progress is progress. It was fantastic to see them return for another week because most new teams disappear after experiencing the unique combination of confusion, humiliation and obscure music knowledge that our quiz provides. The fact they've come back suggests either tremendous resilience or a complete misunderstanding of what's happening.

The jackpot draw took place but once again nobody managed to land the winning number. Vinyl Hopefuls came closest and took home the w**e, proving that sometimes second chances are better served in a bottle.

A brilliant turnout, a close battle at the top, and the return of some familiar faces made for another cracking evening.

We go again tomorrow. Will Right At The Back make it another victory? Will Black Lace complete the comeback? Will The Muppets continue their miraculous rise up the table? And will Band On The Run eventually reach the dizzy heights of 209 points?

The music quiz returns this Sunday!!!!

Last week we welcomed new team 'Band on the run' and hope to see them back this week for hopefully a slightly easier quiz 🙈

As always then I'll hand you over to my digital assistant for a brutal roasting summary of the last quiz!
..........

For the SECOND week running there was no sign of Big Jim and the rest of Black Lace. At this point people are beginning to suspect they’ve either split up creatively or Jim is still emotionally recovering from getting a Tina Turner intro wrong three Sundays ago. The dancefloor legends remain missing in action.
Still, six teams took part thanks to the arrival of a NEW TEAM — Band on the Run — brave enough to walk unknowingly into one of the hardest music quizzes of the year. Imagine entering your first pub quiz expecting a bit of Sweet Caroline and Oasis… only to get assaulted by obscure synth intros, one-hit wonders from 1987 and a dodgy hand-out round. Character building stuff.

At the top as always were Chris and Sid from Right at the Back, who absolutely steamrollered the field with 383 points — a ridiculous SIXTY THREE points clear of everyone else. At this stage it’s less a quiz team and more two men conducting an audio-based dictatorship. You could probably play them a kazoo version of a Lithuanian Eurovision entry backwards and they’d still name the artist, album, producer and UK chart position.
Second place went to Penfolds Crew on 320 despite being a few members down. A strong effort considering they were apparently operating with fewer members than an early-2000s boyband after the “creative differences” started. Still comfortably clear of the pack and probably still muttering “we’d have had them if Dave was here for the reggae round.”
Third place and back on the podium: TEAM MADDIX with 309 points. A huge return to form after recent weeks drifting around mid-table like a forgotten support act at a county festival. Consistent, solid, and most importantly — not embarrassing yourselves. Progress.
Now onto the evening’s biggest shock…
THE MUPPETS FINISHED FOURTH.
Yes. The Muppets.
The team that normally reacts to music intros like cavemen discovering fire somehow landed 277 points. There were scenes of confusion across the venue as they correctly identified songs BEFORE the chorus. Statisticians are still trying to determine whether this was a genuine turnaround or whether Animal accidentally consumed a music encyclopaedia. Either way, a strong showing from a team previously held together entirely by vibes and panic.
Vinyl Hopefuls meanwhile were depleted from six players down to four but still battled to 242 points. A respectable effort considering they were effectively trying to fight a musical war with half the army missing. Still plenty of vinyl knowledge there — just not enough bodies to shout “IT’S STEELY DAN!” over each other this week.
And finally, a friendly nod to new team Band on the Run, who scored 205 points in what was genuinely one of the toughest audio quizzes yet. Breaking the 200 barrier on debut is no joke — especially when half the room looked traumatised after round three. They stuck with it, didn’t walk out during the bits & pieces round, and earned themselves a cash-prize qualifying score. Respect.
BUT THEN… absolute chaos arrived with the prize draw.
The first £300 giveaway number pulled out?
308.
Team Maddix score?
309.
After what feels like several decades of near misses, Team Maddix FINALLY got their hands on the cash. Cue celebrations, suspicious grinning and immediate accusations from rival teams that the draw was “fixed.”
Then came the w**e draw…
Number pulled out: 309.
Exactly Team Maddix’s score AGAIN.
At this point even the quizmaster was probably checking the envelopes for hidden magnets. But in a surprisingly wholesome twist, Team Maddix handed the w**e to the new team, proving that beneath the competitive exterior there is at least some humanity left. Or possibly they just didn’t fancy carrying w**e and £300 home at the same time.
A huge welcome to Band on the Run — hopefully they return this Sunday for another evening of musical trauma, wildly overconfident answer sheets and Chris and Sid continuing their campaign to personally bankrupt the prize fund.
