Halton Nature Watch: Halton EcoFest & Looking Ahead

The fourth and final (for now) installment of our Halton Nature Watch blog series is now live on our website! We recap our whirlwind tour across Halton EcoFest, including launching at Saints with Holy Trinity, Runcorn , hands-on 3D paper woodlouse workshops at Victoria Park Butterfly House, and bandstand activities in Widnes.

Thanks to Culture 26 funding, Hazlehurst Associate Artist Clare Williams led a special 'Snap & Social' photowalk during EcoFest to help visitors explore park biodiversity.

Most of all, we have loved working alongside Naomi from Animal Teach and Siobhan from HBC's Environmental Services throughout the entire project—we’ve learned so much from them both!

Halton Nature Watch: Citizen Science & MarketFest

Part 3 of our Halton Nature Watch blog series is now live! In this post, we look back at two distinct events: our Citizen Science Day at All Saints Church in Runcorn All Saints with Holy Trinity, Runcorn and our creative pop-up at Widnes MarketFest Widnes Market

Our Citizen Science Day brought people together for hands-on microscope exploration and bug recording alongside Animal Teach, HBC Environmental Services, RECORD, and TCV.

Later in the summer, we set up right next to the music stage at Widnes MarketFest for cyanotype printing and cardboard shield bug making—where being part of the wider Culture 26 programme truly enhanced our offer on the day. A huge thank you to our brilliant hosts at both All Saints Church and Widnes Market!

Siobhan and I went and added the updates from the Halton Nature Watch collaboration with Halton Borough Council and Hazlehurst Studios, including how science met creativity, education supported learning and how we got stuck into community projects!

As we head into autumn, we’re looking back at one of our biggest collaborative projects this year: Halton Nature Watch!

Part 1 of our blog series is live now! Read all about how we teamed up with Animal Teach and Halton Borough Council’s Environmental Services Team, created our paper-cutout logo with TLC Illustration, and brought eco-friendly Risograph spotter guides to local classrooms with illustrations by Rachael Prime Art.

🐛 We're Going on a Bug Hunt!

Walk / Talk / Look / Record is the motto for our new series of Hazlehurst Snap & Social Photowalks, part of Halton Nature Watch!

Bring your phone or camera for a gentle nature walk around The Bongs. We'll be using the iNaturalist app to record the bugs, slugs, and arachnids we spot, with expert guidance from Siobhan, an ecologist from Halton Borough Council's Environment Services.

Event Details:
• When: 11:00 AM (approx. 1 hour)
• Where: The Glass Nook Cafe (middle of Crow Wood Park — see map image)
• Parking: On-street parking near the Barnes Road park entrance
• Cost: FREE (booking required)
