Bubbles & Buddleia
I should have shared this couple of weeks ago - my exhibition in our exhibition "Runcorn"
The photo was taken from the yard, so the plant is growing right where the Hazlehurst Soap factory once stood. It's a little nod to the industrial past of the town, whilst acknowledging that nature takes back her land when we aren't looking

A final post from me this Mental Health Awareness Week, about Hazlehurst Studios.

I posted earlier this week about all the incredible workshops that are provided for folks to come and be creative - but if that feels a tad overwhelming, then may I flag up our open days as an introduction to the Studios and the artists that use that space?

You can come and enjoy taster sessions in all sorts of different crafts ( or not, if you don't want to!) have a look around the Studios and enjoy a brew. Most of us, the artists, are around to say hello and show you a little of what we do. It's a really good way to get a feel for us and the spaces that the workshops are held in.

We have two a year now and enjoyed a wonderful day in April - and our next one is in September. Free of charge to attend

We are a community ourselves - and if you fancy supporting our studio artists who have their own small businesses, why not pop down to our Summer Pop Up Market, June 7th & 8th. We have two of these markets every year also, so don't forget to look for us later in the year too when you're doing your Christmas Shopping!
The Summer Pop Up Market is open 11-6 Saturday 7th, and 11-4 Sunday 8th.
The Open days times vary, so please check opening times in September. ♡

This Mental Health Awareness Week is all about celebrating community, and how it supports our mental health and wellbeing. Communities connect, support, and give us a sense of belonging and purpose. From local to global, online to in-person, we all need community.

We couldn't possibly start a week celebrating community without talking about the incredible murals painted in Dukesfield Runcorn. A project that was brought together by members of the community, my colleagues at Hazlehurst Studios and the community projects dept at Halton Borough council. It culminated in celebration with many free events creating space for valuable conversations and a real sense of pride.

There will be more sharing about community at Hazlehurst, so please keep an eye on the hashtags 💖

Anyhoo - look! This years labyrinth has been mowed at Norton Priory Museum and Gardens. It's open to be walked by all visitors. I'm really pleased with how it's looking already after last year's being flooded most of the time!

After a wonderful lunchtime ( post to follow) we went along to the Q&A at Society to meet the artists responsible for the stunning street art in Runcorn that's currently underway. It's hard to describe the stunning energy around these pieces of art, and it was wonderful to hear the artists speak about their processes, their skills, their histories. Also hearing about how the hard work and research by my colleagues at Hazlehurst have lead to this project being so attractive and heartfelt from the offset. I can't wait to see what happens this week.

(And btw, apparently shouting "whoot whoot" when you see a painting of a steam train can embarass the people you're with! "You just can't help yourself can you?" Nope!)
