UPDATE :
The Northern Bar is a FREEHOUSE not backed by a brewery so we stand alone
Which means all costs are to us.
Good morning everyone.
Now that the matter has been published by Halton Borough Council, I feel I can finally share an update with our customers and supporters regarding our ongoing efforts to secure an additional hour of music on our premises licence, from 11pm until midnight, to bring it in line with our permitted drinking hours.
As many of you know, we have made three attempts to obtain this extension, at a cost of approximately £600 per application. The financial cost, stress and impact on the business have been significant.
Like many community pubs, we are working hard to keep our doors open and continue providing a place for people to come together. The uncertainty surrounding this process has been extremely difficult.
I would encourage everyone to take the time to read the hearing minutes published by Halton Borough Council and to understand the process we have been through.
I requested an unedited version of the minutes on 14 August and am still awaiting a response. I have also submitted a formal complaint regarding comments made during the process, which I believe require further consideration.
Having reviewed the published information, I have serious concerns about the fairness of the process and whether our position was given a fair opportunity to be heard.
I believe it is important that our customers and the wider community understand what local independent pubs can face when trying to operate and survive.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support The Northern Bar. Your support means more than you know, and we will continue to do everything we can to protect our pub and its place in the community.
Thank you for standing with us. ❤️
