AI analysis has got seriously good. It can now analyse a DJ mix in ways I could only have dreamed of when I started: transition timing, phrasing, harmonic compatibility, energy control, track selection, crowd perception, overall set structure — even whether you’re bringing a track in at the right point musically.
So I decided to put myself under the microscope. 😂 This report is based on a live wedding set I recorded back in 2023.
Overall score: 72/100.
There are some things I’m pretty happy with — particularly Crowd Perception: 91 and Style Fit: 90 — which makes sense for a wedding where reading the room and keeping people dancing is everything.
But the interesting part is what happens next.
In the next few days I’m going to record a completely new set, this time based around music I genuinely love playing and listening to, rather than working within the constraints of a wedding crowd.
Then I’m going to run it through exactly the same analysis and see whether the last three years have actually made me a better DJ — not just by how I feel about the mix, but by measurable things like phrasing, harmonic mixing, transitions, energy flow and set construction.
And yes… No scratching this time. 🤣🤣
