🩷🖤🤍 𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒃𝒆𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝑱𝒂𝒊𝒅𝒆’𝒔 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒐𝒔…

I thought it was about time I properly introduced myself- not just as the teacher and Principal of Jaide’s Stage Studios, but as 𝗺𝗲. The person behind the school, the classes, the social media posts, the choreography, the costumes, the shows, the paperwork, the music editing, the exams… and probably far too many late nights!

I’m Jaide, I have just turned 40 years old, and I have been running my school for over 26 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀. I’m married to my lovely husband Craig, who has put up with the crazy hours and endless dance conversations for the past 22 years! ❤️

We have a wonderful 12-year-old son, Spencer, who, last year embarked on an incredible new chapter of his own as a 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗶𝗹 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 🩰 Watching him follow his own passion and work incredibly hard to achieve his dreams has been one of my proudest achievements as a mum.

When I’m not at the studio, you will likely find me with one of our four cats, enjoying a show at the theatre or talking about Disney! ✨

I am, and always have been, completely passionate about dance- I started before the age of 2 years old. But I am equally passionate about the children I teach.

For me, a dance school should be about so much more than learning steps.

It should be somewhere children feel 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲, 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗱, 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱, 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 and 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗱. Somewhere they can 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀, 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 and 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, whilst having an enormous amount of 𝗳𝘂𝗻 along the way.

I am incredibly proud that Jaide’s Stage Studios has remained a 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹, independent dance school, where I know every child and every family. I personally teach all of our classes and genuinely care about every student’s individual journey. Pupils at Jaide’s Stage Studios mean far more to me than just a number on a register.

🩷🖤🤍 𝑴𝒚 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈

I am a fully qualified and registered teacher with the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗜𝗗𝗧𝗔). My qualifications include:

• Associate Ballet, Tap, Modern, Theatre Craft & Freestyle
• Licentiate Ballet, Tap, Modern & Theatre Craft
• UKCA Level 3
• PBT Practitioner
• Alixa Flexibility Certificate Level 2

Alongside my teaching qualifications, I am fully insured and hold an Enhanced DBS, Registered Chaperone status, Designated Safeguarding Lead Training, Paediatric First-Aid Training and Neurosensory Divergence certification.

Because whilst I absolutely believe dance should be fun, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱’𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆, 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁.

What I pride myself on most is the combination of the 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 I give to every student and family, alongside the high level of 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 and standard of teaching I expect from myself and my school.

I pride myself on ensuring that Jaide’s Stage Studios delivers 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, professional dance training. I am incredibly particular about the standard of teaching, the training our students receive and the way our school is presented and run.

Our 100% 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 is something I am immensely proud of. Behind that statistic are hours of teaching, preparation, encouragement, corrections, repetition and hard work from both myself and my students. I want every child who takes an examination through our school to walk into that studio feeling prepared, confident and knowing that they have genuinely been taught to the best of my ability.

I believe that children deserve both a 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺, 𝗻𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 where they feel 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗱 and 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱, along professional, high-quality training that challenges them to reach their potential.

I pride myself on maintaining high standards whilst never losing sight of the fact that every child is different. Not every student will have the same natural ability, confidence or aspirations. My job is to help each individual dancer become the very best version of themselves. I pride myself on knowing my students as 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀- not just as dancers.

Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to see our students experience some truly incredible opportunities, including performing at:

In 2009, I was incredibly proud to be selected as a 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗔𝘀𝗱𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝘂𝗴𝗯𝘆, and another huge personal highlight was having the wonderful 𝗪𝗮𝘆𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗢𝗕𝗘 become our school 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻.

I was delighted to be selected at just 16 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗹𝗱 to feature in a 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 4 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 exploring teenage life as a young entrepreneur, something that was a fantastic and memorable experience so early in my journey.

Over the years, I have also been fortunate enough to see both myself and my students involved in some wonderful television and media opportunities. I, alongside some of my students, had the pleasure of featuring in an 𝗜𝗧𝗩 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 with 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻’𝘀 𝗚𝗼𝘁 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 star 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗯𝗼𝘁.

Our students have also had the exciting opportunity to appear in 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼𝘀 for a boy band, as well as alongside 𝗫 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗡𝗶𝗸𝗶 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘀- experiences that have given them a wonderful insight into the wider performing arts industry and opportunities beyond the dance studio.

Of course, awards and recognition are lovely and I am incredibly proud of them, but they aren’t what gets me up and into the studio every day.

The children are 🤩

- Seeing a shy, little dancer walk into their first class and, years later, stand confidently on a stage…

- Seeing a student achieve an exam result they have worked incredibly hard for…

- Watching friendships develop…

- Seeing children discover a talent they didn’t know they had…

- Or simply having a child run through the studio door excited because it’s ‘dance day’…

That is what makes this job so special to me.

After more than 26 years, I still feel incredibly lucky to be doing something I love, with children I care about, in a school that I have built from the ground up.

This change comes after several of my posts were declined by certain sites for not being 'Jellycat' related, and I have also received numerous requests for photos because some people have been unable to locate my posts. Responding to these requests takes considerable time and pulls me away from what I love most - sewing the jellycat accessories!

I have a regular supply of jellycat dustbags and will continue making these accessories, particularly given the ongoing demand and the wonderful feedback I receive from you all. I will keep updating my page, especially now that I have started a list for 'Pre-Orders for Christmas'. With a major event to organise in November (not Jellycat related), knowing which Christmas orders I need to prioritise will be extremely helpful. I cannot believe we have come to the end of another academic year- and what a brilliant one it’s been!

We started the year in September with our red carpet event by showcasing our 25th Anniversary Show on the big screen at Cineworld! We hosted our own competitive three-weekend Festival in November along with our own Troupe Day in February. The solo, duet and trio students also competed in March and June across two Festivals in Leicester where all students across the year have won an array of medals and trophies. We held an IDTA Examination session maintaining our 100% pass rate as well as all students gained a Distinction. In recent weeks, the students have performed locally at Drovers House Care Home and as the Opening Guest Act at the Rugby’s Got Talent Final. We finished on a high receiving the fabulous news of our Midlands Enterprise Awards!

We had such a fun last week to mark our classes coming to a close for the academic year.

From traditional party dances and games, balloons and bunting to sweets and certificates, we really did have an entertaining and exciting time!

What a fantastic and successful Medal Day!🏅🩰

Medal Day is a wonderful biennial tradition within the school which is a brilliant opportunity for parents and families to watch demonstrations of their child's class and exam work, celebrating the incredible progress, commitment and development they have made throughout the year. It was a pleasure to reward each dancer's hard work with their well-earned medals and certificates- every single student should be so proud of what they have achieved.

A huge well done to our Commitment Class for their fabulous performances of their competition routines throughout the day. You represented everything Jaide's Stage Studios strives to instil in our dancers- teamwork, determination, resilience, dedication and encouragement for one another. I couldn't be prouder of you all.

A heartfelt thank you to all of the parents who generously gave up their time to volunteer and help the day run so smoothly. Your support behind the scenes is always appreciated and plays such an important part in making events like this possible.

Finally, congratulations to all of our trophy winners announced during our end-of-day presentation. It was wonderful to recognise not only achievements in dance, but also the effort, commitment and positive attitudes shown throughout the year.

I have also been totally overwhelmed by the lovely feedback I have received following the event. Hearing how much our dancers enjoyed themselves, how proud parents were of their children's progress, and how much everyone appreciated the supportive, family atmosphere means the world to me. Thank you for your kind words and continued support- it truly makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Medal Day such a special celebration. We are incredibly proud of every single dancer and feel so privileged to be part of their journey.

A huge congratulations to a selection of our amazing students who had the privilege of performing at Drovers House Care Home on Tuesday evening.

Our dancers delighted the residents and staff with a variety of ballet, modern, lyrical, acrobatic, and tap performances. It was wonderful to see so many smiles, hear everyone singing along, clapping, and enjoying the entertainment.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Drovers House for your warm welcome, kind hospitality, and the lovely response our dancers received. It truly meant so much to them.

Dance has a wonderful way of bringing people together, and we are incredibly proud of our students for using their talent to spread joy and make such a positive difference within our local community. Experiences like these are just as rewarding for our dancers as they are for those watching, and I couldn't be prouder of them.

Most dance teachers and studio owners know what it feels like to choose a path that other people did not always understand.
Some of us grew up hearing, “That’s a nice hobby, but what are you really going to do?” We heard about becoming a doctor, a lawyer, an accountant, or choosing something “safe.” And while all of those professions are worthy, for some of us, dance was not a hobby. It was the thing that made us feel most alive.

Choosing dance as a profession takes courage. Not because it is easy, but because it asks a lot from us. It asks for our time, our creativity, our patience, our bodies, our hearts, and sometimes our own confidence when the world does not fully understand what we do.

But the truth is: teaching dance is not just teaching the movement. It is helping a quiet child find their voice. It is giving a young person a place to belong. It is teaching discipline, respect, teamwork, resilience, courage, and the joy of working toward something bigger than yourself.

And for the studio owners, it is not just running a business. It is building a home for young people, families, teachers, and communities. It is creating a place where music, movement, mentorship, and life lessons come together.

So to every dance teacher and studio owner who once had to defend this choice, I hope you stand a little taller today. You did not choose “just dance.” You chose to pass on an art form. You chose to inspire young people. You chose to make a difference in a way that may never fully show up on a score sheet, a trophy, or a bank statement.

That is a life’s work worth being proud of.
Maybe more than some people will ever understand.
