Join us this weekend at the Bank of Ideas, Rothesay High Street, as we set the wheels in motion for how Bute can be part of the buzz of 2027's Tour de France.

This open ideas session is a chance to come together, collaborate, and explore what this global event could mean for the island, and - most importantly - how we can make the most of it!

Whether you’re into cycling, events, community projects.. or just have a brilliant idea to share, we’d love to see you there.

STOP THE PRESS! It’s happening...

If you saw our post last week, you’ll know the Isle of Bute is officially in the race to become UK Town of Culture 2028 - and the story has now been featured by STV News (thank you STV!).

We couldn’t be more excited about what this could mean for our island: more opportunities, more visitors, more creativity, more investment... and a huge spotlight on the people, places and community spirit that make Bute so special.

This is about celebrating everything Bute already is, as well as all of its potential. Exciting times ahead!

CALLING TEXTILE ARTISTS

Rothesay Pavilion is seeking a Lead Artist for a major new commission.

Threads of the Pavilion will bring together stories, materials and memories from across Bute, woven into a single, large-scale artwork for the building’s entrance.

We’re looking for a textile / fabric / weaving artist available from May, with an interest in community-led, legacy-focused work. A rare opportunity to create a landmark artwork for Scotland, celebrating Bute, its people and its heritage. Apply by 30 April.

Could this be you - or someone you know?

Bringing historic venues back to life doesn’t happen overnight. It takes care, commitment and a lot of people working behind the scenes to make it happen.

That’s why it’s great to see Paisley Museum almost ready to open its doors again.

With Rothesay Pavilion not far behind, Scotland is about to welcome TWO extraordinary heritage buildings back into public life.

Two heritage buildings, two huge opportunities for culture, community and creativity.. what an exciting moment for Scotland’s cultural future!

A proud moment for the Pavilion...

Our thanks to the Isle of Bute News and to Charles Fletcher for such a thoughtful front-page feature this week.

As the piece says, this marks “a new chapter” - and with one year to go until our targeted reopening in Spring 2027, it's starting to feel very real!

So many people are involved in bringing the Pavilion back to life. From the design and construction teams to funders, partners and supporters across Bute and beyond. It’s a collective effort, and we’re grateful for the continued belief in what this building can become. 😀

As they say, onwards and upwards.

A little throwback today to this film by Bash Khan.

A reminder of why the Pavilion has mattered over the years, and what’s kept us going as we continue to work towards its reopening.

As the film shows, the Pav has always been more than bricks and mortar - it’s a place full of memories and stories! If you have a memory of the Pav, feel free to share it in the comments below 👇
