As most of you have already guessed, Sound Saves Lives has unfortunately been cancelled due to the pandemic in these tough times.

Because the event was going to take place in a weeks time it’s appropriate to make it official just in case there was any confusion about postponing the event to a future date when that isn’t the case.

We as a team may possibly want to put on a similar event that has a similar concept, but it’s impossible to suggest anything like this at the moment.

We are all so gutted that this event could not take place as we all put our best efforts in.

Thank you to the bands and artists that made this possible, as well as every one of you who considered in coming and supporting a worthy cause for CLIC Sargent.

A final thank you to an amazing team and tutors that supported each other throughout the planning process.

For the sake of the country and all our key workers, stay inside and stay safe.

WHAT IS SOUND SAVES LIVES?

Sound Saves Lives is a charity fundraising live music event created by music degree students at the University Centre Rotherham which will be held at the Cutlers Arms, Westgate, Rotherham on Wednesday 22nd April. The funds raised will be donated to Clic Sargent, a national cancer charity.

Clic Sargent is a charity that helps young people, and their families who suffer with cancer, whether that be financial costs, day to day support, nurses or bereavement. Every day twelve children and young people are diagnosed with cancer hence why we have chosen Clic Sargent as our charity to fundraise for and would be a fantastic opportunity to bring the community together and raise money at the same time.

The event itself is a night of live entertainment supplied by groups of musicians from Rotherham College and University Centre Rotherham. The artistes headlining are Cherry Blister, a rock and roll band based in Rotherham who started from Rotherham College and built their way up having experience performing in the South Yorkshire area. Supporting them is She Was Robbed and Elysium who both are alternative bands who play a variety of different styles. Kicking off the night is Ethan Massingham, a solo artist who is an experienced performer who will be providing an acoustic set.

The family friendly event will include fundraising such as raffles and games but also the option to donate. We are working in partnership with Clic Sargent who are supporting the event. With so much local talent in Rotherham from the College and University, it makes sense to showcase that and give young people the opportunity to perform.

The date for the event is Wednesday 22nd of April, the doors will be open at 6:30pm and the event will finish at 10:00pm. Tickets are £2.00 and will be available to buy on the night of the event.
