International festival celebrating artists with a learning disability, autism, or both www.artworks-sy.co.uk

ArtWorks Together is an international festival celebrating artists who have a learning disability, are autistic or both. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate fully in arts and culture. We hope to raise the aspirations of artists who have a learning disability, are autisitc, or both, that want to work in the arts & cultural sector, and encourage ambition and talent to

freely thrive. ArtWorks Together uses the UK's NHS definition of learning disability which is "a significantly reduced ability to understand new or complex information, learn new skills and cope independently, which starts before adulthood. It's a lifelong condition characterised by both impaired intelligence and social functioning." Please note that this is a different condition to 'learning difficulty'. Based on this definition, eligibility criteria for ArtWorks together does not include learning difficulties such as dyslexia. ArtWorks Together also showcases autistic artists, reflecting the day-to-day work of our founding organisation, ArtWorks South Yorkshire which supports artists who have a learning disability, are autistic or both to flourish creatively and access professional opportunities from the creative sector. This is the only neurodivergence eligible for inclusion in the festival programme.

ArtWorks Together is produced by ArtWorks South Yorkshire.

See the gallery through fresh eyes and focus on ‘how we look’ during an evening of hands-on philosophy.

Investigate how we view ourselves, others and the world around us through facilitated discussions and creative activities, as well as interactive displays and presentations. This is philosophy for everyone – no experience required.

You’ll have the chance to explore a host of different ways to look at art that will get you thinking in new directions. We’ll get you talking to delve into ideas deeply through fun and friendly drop-in activities, as well as longer philosophical enquiry discussions which you’ll sign up for on the night; all alongside a pay bar.

You’ll get the chance to ask big questions, explore big ideas and take part in creative thinking activities, as well as have your photo taken by a professional photographer in our pop-up philosophical photo booth. It’s a whole new way to experience the galleries to get a different perspective on art and life.

Everyone can philosophise – come ready to find more questions than you do answers!

Sheffield Museums Lates are a night out with a difference. These after-hours special events are a place where adults can explore, enjoy, and be entertained.
