On Saturday, our principal cornet Joe represented Thurcroft Welfare Band at the National Memorial Arboretum, playing the Last Post for the Goole and Howden Branch of the Royal British Legion.

The weather didn’t play ball, but the Branch’s service went ahead in the Millennium Chapel of Peace, and Joe spent the full day with them as part of this important act of remembrance.

A real honour to be asked along, thank you to the Royal British Legion Goole and Howden Branch for having us be part of it.

There are two kinds of people: those who love brass bands, and those who haven’t heard us yet.

We are returning to St. Mary & St. Martin's Church in Blyth on Sunday 18th October for a concert filled to the brim with classic soundtracks and modern masterpieces.

Save the date for now and we'll let you know the full lowdown closer to the time!

What a lovely afternoon for it! Thank you to Aston-cum-Aughton Parish Council for having us out at Lodge Lane Recreation Ground yesterday for their Brass Band Concert. Deckchairs, blankets, sunshine and a great crowd - exactly what a summer concert should be.

Thanks to everyone who came along, brought a chair, and stayed to listen. It’s this kind of community support that keeps bands like ours going!

Next up: catch us at Rotherham Show, Clifton Park, on the Bandstand from 11am – 11.45am. Come and find a spot for some brass band favourites at the region’s biggest free cultural festival!

What a lovely afternoon at Ulley Country Park!

Despite a rainy start (the first rain we’d seen in months!), the sun broke through and the weather brightened up beautifully for our three sets in the gazebo by the water.

Thank you to everyone who came along, your feedback and support meant so much to the band.

A huge thank you also to Friends of Ulley Country Park for having us and organising such a great event. We loved being part of it!

Enjoyed what you heard? Catch us again soon - we’re playing at Holy Trinity Church, Ulley on Friday 9th October in the evening. We’d love to see you there!

Thurcroft Welfare Band played Letwell Street Fayre this afternoon. What a great atmosphere! We were delighted to provide the music throughout, entertaining the crowds alongside the coconut shy, axe throwing, s'mores making, the line dancing, the bake sale and the flamenco dancing!

Great to see the village turn out in such numbers, with the Mayor of Rotherham on hand to officially open proceedings. Proceeds from the day went towards supporting local causes, which is a brilliant reason to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon in Letwell.

Thanks to Letwell Parish Council for having us.

Fancy joining us for gigs like this? We’re on the lookout for a front row cornet player to complete our line-up. If you’ve got some playing experience come along to see if we’re the right fit!

Special mission for Thurcroft Welfare Band this week!

We popped along to play the entrance fanfare for our second cornet Elizabeth’s school prom - there to send her off in style as she arrived!

Our band jackets even matched Elizabeth's dress. Iconic. 💜
