Romsey Beggars Fair Romsey's annual FREE summer festival of music & dance returns for the 32nd time, 11am to 5pm Saturday 11th July 2026 Applications close on 31 January each year.

Romsey Beggars Fair is a one-day free festival of music, dance and street entertainment held on the second Saturday of July in Romsey, Hampshire. In the streets and in venues throughout Romsey the best of local performers bring you folk, jazz, blues and world music, colourful dance displays and children’s entertainment. The Beggars Fair has been running since 1993 and is living up to its aims of s

howcasing local talent in a friendly environment. From big bands on the Cornmarket main stage to intimate acoustic music in tranquil gardens, cheerful pub sessions and spellbinding storytelling, the day has a great atmosphere that keeps bringing people and performers back year after year. Performers at the Beggars Fair are from all styles and genres of music and range from seasoned professionals to new artists just starting out. There is an open application process, and we aim to choose acts that are:
- Local: within about 25-30 miles of Romsey (extends to Southampton, Bournemouth, Salisbury, Basingstoke, Portsmouth);
- Original: either performing original material or with an original take on existing or traditional material;
- New to the Beggars Fair: our aim is to have at least a third of acts each year performing at the Beggars Fair for the first time

If you'd like to perform at the Beggars Fair please apply at www.beggarsfair.org.uk/take-part/. At the Beggars Fair everyone is a star! All acts get equal billing regardless of whether they are established acts or new to the game.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along and made Beggars Fair so special. Seeing the streets of Romsey filled with music, laughter and smiling faces is exactly what Beggars Fair is all about.

To our amazing performers – thank you for giving your time and talent completely free of charge to entertain everyone, especially in the sweltering heat. You were absolutely fantastic! 🎵☀️

A massive thank you to our brilliant sound engineers, stage crews and everyone working behind the scenes. Your hard work ensured every performance sounded its best.

To all of our wonderful venues – thank you for opening your doors and working tirelessly, not just on the day but throughout the months of planning. Many of you will be shattered after working late into the early hours for the England match (OMG we won 🙌 ⚽) and we are incredibly grateful.

To our fantastic volunteers – whether you were managing locations, litter picking, selling programmes or helping visitors throughout the day, you are the heart of Beggars Fair.

Thank you to the Romsey Town Council Road Marshals for expertly managing road closures, traffic and the loading and unloading of performers' equipment.

Thank you to AEC Protection for helping keep everyone safe, and to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary for supporting the event and helping keep our Romsonians in order! 👮

Massive thanks for the care and excellent response times from and our medical team Medical Rescue Consultancy Ltd. 🚑

A huge thank you to all of our local businesses, cafés, pubs, shops and traders, who worked incredibly hard to welcome thousands of visitors to our town today.

We're also so grateful to the organisations and businesses who generously provided parking areas to help accommodate the huge influx of vehicles. Your support made a real difference.

Finally, thank you to everyone who bought a programme, donated, danced, sang along, cheered on the performers and helped make Beggars Fair such a welcoming community festival.
